March 10, 200422 yr Are there any settings changes I can make to eliminate sudden changes in clouds and visibility? Unfortunately this is happening on almost every flight using AS. It is almost like I am back in the days of FS2K2.For example, today I conducted a flight from KOKV and KLWS using archived weather from 12Z December 25, 2003. Halfway to the destination the cloud cover went from scattered to overcast without warning.I have my FS sight distance at 80, cloud draw distance at 60.In AS, I have set max visibility at 80, min at 0. Suppression range is 30. Enforce visibility and Visibility smoothing are both checked. Thanks!
March 10, 200422 yr Hi,In FSUIPC are you using minimum weather defaults? Please post your whole AS2004.cfg file and I'll take a look!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
March 10, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi,If you don't want to see any cloud condition changes you must extend your suppression range to at least your cloud draw distance (60). I suggest using the default of 100nm.Hope that helps!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
March 10, 200422 yr Thanks. Will extending suppression to such a range have the side-effect of eliminating local weather variations or producing discrepancies between local forecasts and the conditions I will actually experience en route?Here is my config file://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5130WindowPosY = 2355DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 500SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 10LocalSuppressionRange = 30MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 80IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = FalseRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = TrueVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -6TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = FalseDisableCAVOKClouds = TrueProxyAddress = NONE
March 10, 200422 yr Commercial Member Hi,No... The effect simply prevents changes within that radius, so you don't experience shifts in changing wx. You'll soon be flying into the area that HAS changed, however, but your transition will happen smoothly via the station-based wx depiction.Hope that helps!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
