Winds aloft no where near what is reported

Featured Replies

I read the FAQ and see the explanation, but my general wind direction for my flight (in progress as I type from KPIT to KSLC) are reported as averaging 280 @ 75 knots. This would be a lovely headwind of course ;-)However with route based wind smooting out, they haven't gone above 35 knots and are straight out of the North???Sure, it's helping my GS, but they are no where near where they should be???Is there a fix for this other than dealing with the massive wind shifts with wind smoothing off?

Hi,So your average is reported correctly, but the actual wind speed/direction in the sim is incorrect? There can be temporary fluctuations based on FS9 wind representation, but it should not be consistently wrong. Are you properly selecting a cruise altitude when processing your route, and flying that same altitude?-Damian

Yes imported the FP and no the winds are Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off! I should have had at a minimum 75 knots on the nose. I only had 35 max off the right???

Hi,We'll need more information. I have no other reports of such inconsistencies. Please provide your .PLN and advise which wx date/time you are using. Thanks! You can email to [email protected]

OK so you want the .pln file, that's np. On the "wx date/time" I was using? Do you just mean what time I flew? I'll get that to you tonight. Thanks for the help!

Hi,I'd like to know which wx download you were using. i.e. the one that came with AS2004, a new recent one downloaded by you via online updates, an archive, etc.. Each wx download will show an "Active wx XXXXXX" value at the top right of the AS2004 screen. That is the number I am interested in :)Thanks!-Damian

Is that recorded somewhere? I always use real time weather? Would it be recorded somewhere from last nights flight?
