April 1, 200422 yr I'm hoping you guys can help me out I have MR1 and everything works great except that my computer crashes to desktop in foul weather conditions, (yesterday at Boston in heavy rains). When the weather is cloudy only or okay then there are no crashes, only happens in heavy snow/rain. Enclosed is my txt config file, any help/comments would be appreciated.//AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 5160WindowPosY = 5145DefaultWeatherFolder = F:FlightSimModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2500SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = FalseRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 15VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -5TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE Manny Patel
April 1, 200422 yr Hi,Sorry you are having trouble. Your AS settings look good. This problem is typically a system problem, not an AS problem. Without knowing your system details, here are some things to try:Turn down cloud draw distance.Use alternative cloud set, especially from FSW.Update video drivers.Try these and let us know, with your system specs.!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
April 1, 200422 yr Author What should the typical cloud draw distance be?My system is P4 3.0, Win XP, 1GB Ram, FX5600 Geforce. Manny Patel
April 1, 200422 yr Hi,With your system you can go pretty high. Try this: Find heavy rain and use the FS system weather. Does FS still crash?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
April 2, 200422 yr Author Already tried that, no the system does not crash using FS weather system in heavy rain. Manny Patel
April 2, 200422 yr OK, thanks for that. What video drivers are you using? Try lowering Cloud layers to 3.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
April 2, 200422 yr Author Nvidia 52.16 Drivers, I've had more stability with these than newer ones. But I'm open to suggestions is there are better drivers than the 52.16. I'll try lowering number of cloud layers also. BTW Thanks in advance for helping me out Jim!:-) Manny Patel
April 2, 200422 yr There is a big thread on the general forum about CTD's. I had one yesterday. I have done the fix, but not flown. Did not have rain, but heavy clouds, but it did the CTD with AS2004 and with FS9 Real Weather.I use the new nVidia driver 5664 on my G4 4200ti and they work very well. However I would check out the fix in the general forum.Hope This HelpsBob
