May 6, 200422 yr Hi I have ActiveSky wxRE 1.92 and have recently been receiving the following message when it is ran. I have a 1.5mb broadband connection and have not altered ANY parameters since the last time it worked without problems. My internet connection is okay. 'There is a conmmunications problem with the Aloft Server. Please use offline mode or try again later. The problem should correct itself soon'.It has been a few days now and for a considerable time when I go to the WX Breifing page after I specify the start and end airports I just get, even when I specify DFW to SLC. SFO Winds Area Report not available...SLC Winds Area Report not available...ORD Winds Area Report not available...DFW Winds Area Report not available...BOS Winds Area Report not available...MIA Winds Area Report not available...ANC Winds Area Report not available... and this was when the aloft server WAS working.Has the mechanism to make wxRE 1.92 work been withdrawn or is the Aloft Server going to be working soon. I find this program works fine for me and dont really want to buy the 2004 version.Mike Liverpool, UK
May 6, 200422 yr Hi Mike,Sorry you are having trouble. Yes, the wind server has been down for the last few days. We hope NOAA will fix things soon. That is why you are getting the first error message. We are under their control, but will watch the situation. Keep in mind that weather data is being processed, just no winds. The second situation is known to Damian. That is all I can say on that one.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 6, 200422 yr Pardon me, Mike, and Jim for coming in here, but I do have a related question and hope that you do not mind.Is the source of the wind data the same for both AS 2004 and wxRE 1.92? The reason I ask is that I too use v 1.92 and currently have no winds. I figured that if the winds were absent in AS 2004 as well, someone else may have already posted to ask why. Thanks in advance, and best regards
May 6, 200422 yr Hi,Thanks for asking and being polite about it! No, the data sources are not the same. By now I was hoping that the NOAA server would be fixed, but it is not. I didn't post an alert, because up to today only a few users had posted or sent an e-mail to me.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

May 16, 200422 yr Hi Jim,Flew from KDEN to KORD today with no winds aloft. When I hit shiftZ I got a wind aloft of 112/10. After about 1 Hr. into the flightI heard a change of sound in the engines, hit shift Z again and hadwind from 283/48. Nearing KORD it went to 58KTS. AT KORD 6000 ft,still had wind 270/58 down to the runway. Had to clear weather in FSUIPC so I could land. Lost my connection twice after 1 1/2 hrs offlight. Seems like the wind update happened after I re-connected.Any ideas?
