Fed up with no winds aloft!

Featured Replies

I got AS 1.92 for the weather accuracy. For the last three weeks , all I'm getting is surface conditions. It's either wind aloft 0/0/0, or the initial window declaring problems with the server, which will be ok asap.Come on, guys. Wake up and FIX this annoying problem. At least the default fs2002 rw weather is consistent- no server problems here. In the meantime, I'm using freeware metar programs as a sub for AS.Really disappointed.Eytan Ornstein

Hi,We know it's been a problem for 3 or 4 days now. Please know we are aware of the problem. Feel free to email NOAA and let them know that their server problem is annoying you. For over 2 years we have experienced only a few outages. Again, please know that we are doing what we can.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

I thought it was just me. Glad to hear you guys are working on it. Is there a time frame when NOAA might cooperate? I have owned AS for 6 months now and this is my first issue with it. AS is awesome, hope you get it fixed soon!RegardsDavid Keech

Jim,My problem is not just NOAA related.1. The NOAA is one thing- I know it's beyond your control.2. Even when AS would download winds aloft data, for some reason it would not display in the ticker tape message (0/0/0). The metar weather would be displayed in fs- clouds and precipitation, but not a hint of winds, even at ground level.EytanP4 2.4512 DDRGeForce 2 MX 200 64 MB30 GB hdWindows 2000 ProMy ini.settings//wxRE configuration file - be careful with edits here[General]WXREOfflinePath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREVoiceExportPath = C:Program FilesActiveSky wxREOperationMode = OnlineDefaultOfflineFile = expcycle19Z.wxdDisableCloudTransitions = FalseDisableMessages = FalseLowBandwidthWinds = FalseExportMetars = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueMETARUpdateInterval = 15FDUpdateInterval = 45UpdateMETAROnNewStation = TrueUseShortTermTAF = FalseWindsAloftSimulation = TrueFS2004Writes = TrueIdlePriority = FalseVATSIMMetars = FalseDefaultForceRange = 80ZuluConversion = 3RainVisReduction = TrueOvercastHorizonVis = TrueDisableForceWindUpdates = FalseTAFProcessing = TrueWakeTurb = TrueDisableUpdatesWhenForced = FalseStartPaused = FalseCloudTransitionInterval = 30MinimumCloudThickness = 200UseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEProxyPort = 80FS2004Path = E:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9FSUIPC ini.[General]GenerateRain=NoGenerateCirrus=NoWindShearSharp=YesAutoTaxiWind=NoUpperWindGusts=NoStormsAutomatic=NoGraduatedVisibility=YesLowerVisAltitude=6000UpperVisAltitude=25000ExtendMetarMaxVis=YesPatchWeatherToADV=YesPlanLoadNoPosition=NoPatchSimApAlt=YesAutoClearWeather=YesApplyVisFix=NoWindTransitions=YesExtendTopWind=YesWindSmoothness=1CopyDewPtToDayNightVar=YesSmoothPressure=YesPressureSmoothness=5SmoothVisibility=YesVisibilitySmoothness=2MaxSurfaceWind=0WindVarFactor=7WindLimitLevel=200WindDiscardLevel=400WindSetVariance=NoSubterraneanWindFix=YesMagWindsToFST=NoWindAjustAltitude=NoWindAjustAltitudeBy=2000MinimumVisibility=0MaximumVisibilityFewClouds=6000MaximumVisibility=2000MaximumVisibilityOvercast=2000MaximumVisibilityRainy=1000UpperVisibility=6000OneCloudLayer=NoThinClouds=NoThinThunderClouds=NoStormProbability=0StormMinTemp=10StormParameters=1030530CloudThinness=1000ThunderCloudThinness=10000CloudTurbulence=YesCloudIcing=YesCloudForJetTrails=NoCloudForVSky=NoWindTurbulence=NoSuppressAllGusts=NoExternalOptionControl=YesAutoTuneADF=NoMagicBattery=YesAxisCalibration=NoTCASid=FlightTCASrange=40SendWeatherAlways=NoSendWeatherInterval=60RainStopper=75RainStarter=75KeepFS98CloudCover=NoRudderSpikeRemoval=NoElevatorSpikeRemoval=NoAileronSpikeRemoval=NoShowPMcontrols=NoAdjustWeatherATIS=NoCloudTurbulenceToWinds=NoFixRainProblem=YesTrapUserInterrupt=YesNavFreq50KHz=NoClockSync=YesSmoothIAS=NoMinVSkyAltitude=40000TrafficScanPerFrame=10SuppressCloudTurbulence=NoSuppressWindTurbulence=NoFixWindows=NoFixControlAccel=NoMainMenu=&ModulesSubMenu=&FSUIPC ...[JoystickCalibration]FlapsSetControl=0ReverserControl=66292AileronTrimControl=0RudderTrimControl=0

Sorry for that, I mis-understood your situation and I posted first thing this morning, which can be a mistake. I fired up my wxRE and FS04 and yes, no winds aloft. But surface winds I did have, both in the FS display and in the ticker-tape. So I know that surface winds are working. As I looked over your FSUIPC settings I think you have surface winds disabled. I don't have the pay version so I cannot compare your settings and mine. Try to reset to Weather minimums and see if the winds show up.Please let us know. We want you to be happy.:) Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

>As I looked over your>FSUIPC settings I think you have surface winds disabled. > Try to reset to Weather minimums and see if the>winds show up.>Jim,1. Which fsuipc setting are you referring to, and what should I change it to?2.Weather minimums? I can't find this option in As...Eytan

That Taxi Wind setting. It is set to NO. It was always, to me, a strange setting when using V2.975. I can't remember if NO means, no taxi winds, hence your 0/0/0 readouts."Reset weather minimums": on the main screen of FSUIPC.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

I've tried all of your suggestions, but to no avail. As a last resort, how do I reinstall AS? Maybe that'll help.Eytan
