July 5, 200421 yr As I indicated in an earlier post I don't mind if AS2004 isn't 100% as in real life but I would like weather to behave realistically which is why this example taken from a recent flight from KSEA falls short of the mark. The first attachment is a sceenshot over Seattle at 3453 feet but when I climb to 4256 feet the haze magically disappears as seen in the second screenshot. At the time AS2004 was reporting the following weather:KSEA 050756Z 02010KT 6SM HZ CLR 16/11 A3014 RMK AO2 SLP205 T01560111KSEA 050528Z 050606 VRB05KT P6SM SCT040 TEMPO 0912 BKN030 FM1200 VRB04KT P6SM BKN027 FM1700 24004KT P6SM SCT035 FM2200 29007KT P6SM SCT040For compariason I loaded FSmeteo weather and in that case no haze layer.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." July 5, 200421 yr Bruce,I am going to give this my best shot. I don't know if I am 100% correct or not as I do not work for MS. The situation is built into FS04. In this example FS does not know how to generate a CLR sky with layer of HZ below it. FS just doesn't know it's there. Below it, OK, FS displayes it. But above it, I don't think so. In all of this, there are certain limitations in FS we are working with, and this low layer, visibility stuff is a major one. We are constantly trying to have "weather to behave realisticly", but we are interacting with a program that is not 100% realistic.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
July 6, 200421 yr Author JimThanks for your reply and I appreciate that this is an area where the limitations of FS2004 are creating particular difficulties - perhaps things will be better with FS2006??.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
