AS2004 and WideFS step by step install instructions

Featured Replies

Dear SupportBeing a long time user of ActiveSky WXre in FS2002 and a user of WideFS, I have recently purchased AS2004 for FS9. I have kept up with all the post in this forum concerning AS2004 and WideFS, to include the Active Radar installation issues with WideFS. However, there has been so many varied ways that people have got the whole AS2004 program to work properly with WideFS that I can't make heads or tails out of all the different install procedures that have been posted. In short, is there any way possible that Damien or Jim could post a current step by step installation procedure for AS2004 and WideFS? Just a simple Text document would be very helpful, Since Dec 03 there have been many post in the forum concerning WideFS and AS2004 and just about all of them have different solutions and different install methods used by various users.Any Feedback would be helpful. I have not attempted to Load AS2004 yet because I use WideFS and want to get it installed correctly.

Hi,Installation - Standard1) Confirm that FS2004 is installed and working properly, with configuration options set for desirable performance (see the AS2004 manual for detailed performance information)2) Choose

JimThank you for the quick reply. One quetion though. You didn't mention having to share the root of the drive on the WideFS machine, or about sharing the folder where AS2004 active radar resides. Is that still necessary? And what about having an FS9 folder on the widefs machine with a weather dat file or something in it? I believe quite a while back I read that that was necessary. Forgive me if I sound like I'm questioning the steps you provided, but through all the post I've read on this subject, it seems there are quite a few previously necessary steps that are no longer needed, is that due to a new installer ar something?

Hi Gary,I am not the "network" expert and only know a little bit. I do know the installer has been re-worked and if you follow the directions things should work out. Any other answers will come from users who will know much more than I!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Hi,Yes you must use the root of the drive unless you are very proficient with UNC conventions and want to manually configure everything. See ActiveRadarConnector2.txt - it goes into much more detail. If you have any problems just let us know!
