Weather makes FS2004 shut-down

Featured Replies

Greetings,I have encountered a serious problem over the last few days. While setting up flights, my FS2004 would suddenly shutdown. I figured it could be some minor bug that sometimes happen. After several of this instances last night, I started to see if there was a pattern. And there is! Whenever FS2004 loads weather, it shut's down. Either when using any regular weather setup inside FS2004, or when ActiveSky is processing the weather to MSFS. I have tried the updated version of ActiveSky and the beta of MR2.The only way I can fly is when selecting "clear sky" setup. This is a new problem, since ActiveSky used to work fine. All help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi,Sorry you are having trouble. Some questions and suggestions:System details?Cloud add-ons?Any other changes in the last few days?Run a virus scan?See if Render to Texture in FS is checked ON. If it is try with it OFF.Update your video card driver to the latest version. Then re-install DirectX.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Jim,Thanks for the quick response! We might be on to something here. I did uopdate drivers this week. But I did not re-install DirectX following the update. Not being a "techie", how do I re-install DirectX?And, again not being a "techie" would the fact that I did not reinstall DirectX let me fly anyway, but screw-up the weather system? Thanks

Problem fixed!I guess I did something wrong when I installed my driver this week. I installed another set, and VOILA! everything runs smooth as silk! Thanks for the input Jim. You put me on that driver trail and it worked!

Don't keep us in suspense. What card and driver? Some others may be experiencing video problems.
