TAF, system time vs fs time

Featured Replies

Hello, could you help me out with the options menu?I use fsuipc 3.30 and latest beta build.I usually fly offline not using up to date metars and not using same system time/fs time. for example I would fly sunday 18 july at 21:24 UTC, setting the flight simulator time and date to 17 july at 13:00 UTC, and using a weather downloaded file of july 17 at 20:00Z.As I'm not flying online could you help me out setting the 'TAF' and 'use system time vs fstime' options?ThanksLucap.s.would I gain performance turning 'enforce visibility limits' ON, having FSUIPC smoothing and limits options already ON?

Hi Luca,You should actually try to match the FS time with the downloaded weather time, so that the TAF elements work properly as time passes. So in your example FS time should be set to 20:00Z, or, if you want to fly at 13:00Z, use a wx file from 13:00z.In AS2004 options, in this example, you should have TAF processing ON and Use system time OFF.There is a way to get things to cycle properly with different fs/wx times, but it involves some tricky things with the use system time and manual timezone conversion value options. Basically you need your computed system zulu time (local time - timezone conversion value) to equal your wx time. For example if I had 20Z wx, I want my computed zulu time to be 20Z, so if my local time was 10:00 I would make my timezone conversion value -10 (10:00 - -10 = 20:00Z). Use system time = ON and Auto Timezone dection = OFF. With this method, you can fly any FS time you want and it won't make a difference... the computed zulu time cycles appropriately starting at the wx time, implementing TAF elements appropriately. If you already have FSUIPC limiting your visibility then AS2004's option won't make any difference..Hope that helps!

very clear now, thank you!I think I'll choose the first (and easier method).one question: in the 'time and date' menu the TIME is shown in local and UTC mode.for example in italy 13:00 local would be shown as 11:00 gmt. DO I have to match the WX zulu time to the local or GMT time?RLuca
