FSUPIC 3.30 + FS2004 Real Weather now works perfectly

Featured Replies

Hi Activesky Guys,First I will preface this post by saying that you are really a friendly and helpful group of folks and I sincerely believe you do your best to develope a good, feature rich weather add-on product like AS2004.Honestly though, after having used Flight Simulator 2004's default online weather engine with the lastest FSUIPC's wind smoothing function, that FS2004's own online weather is really a much better experience than Activesky 2004. Nothing personal!Activesky 2004 was a great effort I think but it consistantly falls short in a lot of areas. The winds aloft have never worked right with Activesky unless they are forced and a flight plan route is used. This is just too unrealistic for me and too much of a compromise for real-world flight planning. I know that Activesky is working with the new FSUPIC to achieve winds aloft smoothing without the bugs (abrupt shifts) that are in the latest MR2 beta but I have never seen a version of Activesky do what it is advertised. It's always, "we are going to fix it in the next version and it will be perfect, you'll love it!!!"And yet the bugs persist, version after version, patch after patch. The destination winds are buggy and unreliable too, "we are going to fix it in the next version and it will be perfect, you'll love it!!!", but I'm not too optimistic. FS2004's own default online weather works perfectly now (only with the registered version of FSUPIC) and I love it. I don't have to wait for anybody's operation or vacations plans, don't have to report the latest bug list and try the latest fixes, frankly it just works and works excellent :)FSUIPC accomplished with FS2004's default weather what Activesky 2004 always promised but could never really realize. Activesky was always gimmicky, gee whiz, on the brink of a weather miracle, ect, but never could quite pull it off. I hope I don't offend anyone because I think that you guys are really nice people but I had to say how I feel as a paying customer. I hope Activesky can have a future, maybe with a new development strategy based on more sound programming results. Thanks for listening....

You are entitled to your opinion, and it is just that - your opinion. I don't happen to share it as I have had more issues with the FS2004 online weather than ActiveSky.Who is correct? Both I would guess but I would suggest you modify your opinion to state that "FS2004 weather and FSUIPC work for me!!"The combo does not and will not work for everybody.I will stop there because if I wrote what my opinion was of someone who would come into a support forum and diss the programming effort - I would start a flame war and the folks here don't need that.I'm glad you have found your nirvana, I guess that means we won't have the pleasure of your company here any more. Quite a nice side effect.Just MHO - not affiliated with ACtiveSky in any way,VicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
