August 15, 200421 yr Hello,Is the rainfall display shown in ActiveRadar based on real radar information, or is it based on surface reporting station information? Is the information accurate for the whole world or only parts?
August 15, 200421 yr Hi Victor,Based on surface information from the METARs from Active Sky.The information is as accurate as the METARs are. So if the METARs are accurate then AR is accurate. We think the METARs are very accurate! Are you having trouble with AR or just seeking information?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 15, 200421 yr Author Hi Jim,Many thanks for the prompt reply. I was just wondering. I decided to buy ActiveSky yesterday and am quite pleased with what I see. I was just wondering about the radar info. If I see rain shown in an area does that mean if I fly towards it the rainfall display will gradually move towards me until it's in my locationa and I see rain? Hope that's not a daft question!:D
August 15, 200421 yr Hi Victor,Thanks for the purchase! All questions are welcomed!! You are correct, if RADAR shows rain in the distance and you fly toward it, it should begin to rain at some point. However, keep in mind that the METARs could change, but that would also be reflected on the RADAR.Or if you sit in one spot you could watch the rain approach on RADAR and in FS.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
