Won't connect to internet

Featured Replies

I've been using AS2004 very happily for a while now, without any problems. However, since installing the new AS2004.5 update, whenever I try to run AS, all I get is the message "internet connection unstable... retrying..." All other programs are connecting without any problem, through a high speed connection.I've tried re-downloading and installing, making sure FSUIPC is there, etc. but it stubbornly won't connect. It does connect with FS, as the airport and nearest reporting station are listed.I have the feeling this is something on my end, but I don't know where to look exactly.Hope someone can help! Thanks,Mike F.2.4GHZ, 1G DDR ram, ATI 9800 Pro

Hi Mike,Sounds like your firewall software is blocking communications.... Some firewall software needs each app specifically permitted to use the internet (including new versions such as as2004.5).Does that help?

Hi Damian,I turned off my Broadband firewall (the only firewall I'm aware of outside of Norton), disabled Norton Internet Security (after having verified that AS2004.exe is indeed permitted unrestricted access to the internet), but AS will still not connect.I restarted the computer, restarted AS, used the refresh option, nothing helped. AS reports that FS is active, etc..Should the new update be listed as AS2004.5 in Norton? If so, it's not there, but a check of the ActiveSky2004 folder shows only AS2004.exe.Is there anything else I can check? Do?Mike F.

Ok, the problem seems to be solved. I think the permitted-programs entry for AS in Norton had become corrupt or was not recognized as the same as the previous version of AS. By removing the entry completely, and letting it be entered again, AS now connects without problem. If anyone else ever has a problem connecting, this may be why.Another AS story with a happy ending! :-wave:)Mike F.
