Active runway

Featured Replies

Hi,First of all, kudos to you for making another fantastic build. I'm using B142 and do not see any wind shifts whatsoever and very very few cloud pops (which I can live with).I was wondering whether anyone else has noticed problems with the active runway when you start a flight. Both at CYVR and at RCTP, I've noticed that I'm given the wrong runway at the beginning of the flight. (For example, current winds at CYVR are 100 degrees at 9 knots which would suggest use of 8R/8L but ATC gives me 26L/26R instead.)The problem doesn't occur with landings however, which leads me to suggest that the reason this is occuring is that the active runway is chosen before AS2004 is able to process the weather into FS. Is there any way around this? Many thanks!Edwin

Hi Edwin,To avoid this problem you should change the date/time settings in FS after AS2004 has loaded the weather into FS (+/- one minute will be enough). This forces FS to reload the AI traffic and change the active runway. You are right in that the active runway usually is set before the weather is loaded into FS. Even if the active runway may be changed after a while, it will take some time because FS has to "get rid of" all current AI traffic first.

Hi,Another option is to use "Ignore FS Ready status" which will permit wx to be set before the actual flight (and thus AI and ATC) is loaded.Check the docs on this option, there are some warnings associated when using it!

Hi,I have found that you can also just go-to another airport close by, then start up AS2004. Then go back to your first airport and all is fine.Brian

Thanks for tip! Just what I was looking for. :-)

Thank you!!! The time trick works like a charm!!! Funny I don't remember having to do this before I updated to MR2 but never mind, as long as it's working now. Thanks again.Happy flying,Edwin
