February 10, 200521 yr Hello all,As a brand new and delighted user of AS2004.5 I, too, have just been hit by the dreaded problem of being unable to start AS2004.5 with the error message, in my case, "runtime error 339", refering to the "ChilkatZip.dll". At the time this occured I had just used my Spy Subtract antivirus program for my weekly "cootie" scan. The solution, for me, was actually quite simple. 1)When you get the error message go START/FIND and locate the "ChilkatZip.dll". Mine was in the FS9 main folder.2) Copy and paste the .dll into your FS9/MODULES and your FS/MODULES/ACTIVE SKY 2004 folder.3) With a large smile on your face fire up Active Sky 2004.5 which should now work correctly. While this doesn't solve the deletion or corruption problem or what ever is causing this it is so fast and easy that it almost doesn't matter until a more permanent solution is eventually found. Regards,Frederick
February 10, 200521 yr Hi,Thanks for that. It really doesn't even need to be in the modules folder! Why doesn't the copy from the main folder get wiped out? Wouldn't it find all instances of the file?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
February 10, 200521 yr Moderator Why not just tell Spy Subtract to ignore that file?Visit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
February 11, 200521 yr Hello all,In reply to the two above messages;Jim,Your absolutely right! The only place the "ChilkatZip.dll" should go is in the Active Sky 2004 folder. I also keep one in a desk top folder so I can copy and replace it when a SpySubtract scan deletes it.vgbaron,I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or whether SpySubtract is. When I run a scan the "ChilkatZip.dll" never appears in the "DETAILS" screen of the the SpySubtract GUI and I, thus, have no way to move it to SpySubtract "WHITE LIST" so it just keeps getting removed with each "cootie" scan. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.Regards,Frederick
