Bizarre Problem after HP Printer Install.

Recommended Posts

Guest zillmer99

Damian,I recently bought and installed an HP Photosmart printer on my PC. Now, whenever I run ActiveSky 2004, it starts the Windows installer (Msiexec) and tries to install an HP Promotions application. I have to cancel said installtion 2 or 3 times and then AS2004 starts normally. I've checked that the shortcut hasn't been corrupted, and run AS2004 direct from the install directory just to make sure.I've uninstalled the HP drivers and the problem goes away... but then I can't use the printer...Have you any idea what might be causing this bizarre behaviour?RegardsSimon Kneller

Not 100% sure but you might blame it on The Hp driversMy wifes machine has new HP printer and on reboot it allways wants to install the fax drivers for the HP printer, ( you have to cancel this 2-4 times to make it give up) dont remember the series number, but I do know that her particular model has no fax.seems to be "generic drivers" Yes, uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times.also on my machine i did have Norton Ghost installed used it and uninstalled. now when in windows explorer working on files, every time I hit "files" to do "new folder" or whatever. Norton ghost wants to reinstall itself, have to cancel 2-3 times to get it to give up. while in same windows explorer session, ghost no longer does this, untill i start new session.Been thru the windows registry several times looking for norton stuff. to no avail.Ain't computers wonderfull!!!JimC.
