March 5, 200521 yr Won't this stop some of the minimal weather effects, like visibility effects, both gradual as fog moves in and visibility degrading as you gain altitude? And how about gradual wind effects? For best results, wasn't Active Sky made to work best with the minimal weather options? Is this so we'll feel forced to buy FSUIPC in order to get the most realistic performance out of Active Sky?
March 6, 200521 yr Hi,The freeware version still works fine! I used it while helping Pete out. He re-named the button and made some minor adjustmenst. You will not notice a difference!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

March 6, 200521 yr Just out of curiosity, and a 'lil' bit 'o' doubt, if the button that said minimal weather was replaced by one that says no weather, yet it doesn't make any difference AT ALL, why the change? Was Pete just bored and so he decided "hey, I think I'll just change the name of this button, see how much controversy I can start in the ol' forums", or is there something else? Just seems kinda strange to me. When you say we won't "notice" any difference, is that like the frog sittin' in the pot of water as it comes to a boil not "noticing" any difference, or is there really no changes at all? And again, if there's no changes at all, why did Pete feel it necessary to make the button different?
March 6, 200521 yr Commercial Member Firstly, there is a change to what happens when you press the new button compared to the old "minimal weather". It is explained in the change notes. With the new button it just sets all weather related settings to minimums while not touching any other non-weather related options you had set such as those on the Technical tab. The old "minimal weather" set minimum weather and switched off all your other options as well i.e. was too aggressive. As such I pointed this out to Pete and he agreed that touching other non-weather realted options when you pressed the "minimal weather" button was not optimal. He therefore agreed to change the function and wording of the button. You can get the results of the old "minimal weather" by pressing the "Normal defaults" followed by the "Weather settings off". For AS2004.5 the best choice is to press "Weather settings off" followed by "Clear All Weather".This discussion between myself and Pete on this change request is available on his support forum (25th Jan 2005), and wasn't a case of him getting "bored".
