I am not so 100% convinced they are so strange. If you combine some striking dawn/sunset set with some clouds and pick the right time of day you may get something like that. I picked a few sets and tried it myself and got results not far from what you got - though a bit more pinkish. Are you saying they are impossible in reality? Again, very hard to say since clouds do assume pretty unbelievable colors when the Sun is low.
