June 15, 200520 yr Yes, that helps. A bit more cumbersome than AS4.5. Any advice on the ICS selection? Mike
June 15, 200520 yr The operation of ASV isn't actually "more clunky" than AS4.5, it only appears that way because of the new ICS feature. The core of the problem is that FS2004 cannot refresh the cloud textures once it is started...we can all thank the FS development team for this lack of foresight, and unfortunately we have to live with the consequences when using programs like ActiveSky that provide "intelligent" textures. You could of course use the same start up procedure that you used with AS4.5, but the downside is that you wouldn't be using the cloud textures that ICS would normally choose for your flight area--you would in fact be using whatever clouds were chosen to match the weather at 0*N 0*W.Having said all that I myself am very irked that MS couldn't have implemented the basic ability to refresh cloud textures in mid-flight, especially since FS2002 was capable of it and the cirrus clouds in FS2004 in fact DO get refreshed. I've recently been snooping around in my FS files trying to find a magical setting that would allow the cloud textures to be refreshed, but most likely one does not exist :-(.Derek D.
