ASV mimimises to desktop

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.Very happy with ASV but I am getting a nagging problem which has happened twice in less than a week.I start ASV and it immediately minimises to desktop and when I click the restore button it does not react. All other programmes minimise and restore correctly. The first time this happened I completely removed and reinstalled both ASV and AS2004 butthis time that is not working. I am beginnin to think I have got an issue with the upgrade and wonder if I should go for the full version?ThanksJohn

I am having exactly the same problem. The only way I can get around it is to "Hide" ASV before MSFS starts. Settings for ASV are "Start Paused" and "Un-Pause on FS Ready Status". It begins work as soon as I start a flight as it should. I can then go to the system tray right click and then left click on "Open Activesky 5" to restore ASV to show on the desktop as it should. I have checked the Window properies within the shortcut and it says there "Run .... Normal Window". I am using the upgrade version and have not yet reinstalled. If you cannot think of anything to try I will reinstall. By the way great product!Andrew Brown

Will do. I think I probably did have the antivirus on during the original install. I let you know what happens.ThanksAndrew

I find this fascinating. Reinstall did not help (Anti virus disabled as suggested plus ICQ and AOL Messenger closed). Here is what I have discovered and tried so far.1. Enable/Disable "view Windows Contents While Dragging" = no help2. Running in Maximised Window = no help although it was interesting to see the contents of my Desktop in a scroll down list below the ASV interface showing top left. I wonder what the scroll list does?3. If I right click on ASV on taskbar I can click on move and see the outline of ASV as I move it around the screen but not the interface itself.4. Changed default flight to load MSFS with weather cleared and no theme being used = no help5. Tried running ASV with no online updates = no help6. Taskbar - rightclick on ASV and then on minimise. rightclick again and restore. It returns :-) . Weird.7. Tried MSFS in both windowed and fullscreen mode = no helpNote: Did not change from defaults apart from changing online updates. All drivers up to date. No other software running. Graphics card NVidia GeForce FX5200. Win XP SP2. FS9 updated. Do I use nocd "patch", as if I would eveb dream of it ;-)Happens when MSFS splash screen is about to clear.IMPORTANT: I am not complaining ASV is excellent as was AS 2004. I can live with it if I have to. I will post if I ever find the answer.Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

Hi AndrewI sorted out my problem by reinstalling from scratch both AS2004 and then ASV. Even I had Mcafee on whilst I reinstalled with no noticeable effect. Now its working fine - my only problem at the moment is an issue with the new Flightparis and CDG sceneries but that's something I am working on.This game can be so frustrating but its fun when everyhting works outJohn

The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling Activesky 2004 as well. I'll give it ago next time I am on the ground.Andrew
