Importing Flight Plans

Featured Replies

I am getting an error message when trying to import flight plans. I am using a WideFS system. The program finds my flight plan files in the usual directory on the FS computer (My Flight Simulator Files in My Doccuments), but I get an error when it then tries to process the file. Seems to want to resave it on the WideFS computer but cannot access the necessary directory. Did not have this problem with previous version. Anyone have an idea as to what Active Sky 5 is trying to do?

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I was away on business. When I try to import a flight plan from the Flight Simulator Files folder in My Documents on the main FS computer using the New Route Import facility in AS5 on the WideFS computer, I am able to browse to the flight plans omn the FS computer but when I select a PLN I almost always get the message "Error saving new .PLN file - check your folder/network settings and/or permissions." Curiously, once in a while a plan will import. I have had no problem importing plans in AS4.5

Unfortunately that is not the problem. My flightplans are created in FS Build and I have seen elsewhere on the forum that there may be some issues with re-writing of files made in FS Build. They run absolutely fine in FS2004 and work also without problems in AS4.5 (which I am still using since I can't get the pln files to work in ASV).Rob

Hi Rob,Since it happens occasionally, something is different "some of the time". It almost sounds like the file is open by another program (the flight planner?). There are no differences between ASV and AS2004.5 in the load/resave process. If "auto resave FS9" option is enabled it will automatically resave in native FS9 format immediately on import. If this is where the problem is, disabling the auto resave option should solve it. I would however try to find out why the file is open when ASV is trying to write to it? Maybe an anti-virus software issue? Also, make sure you have correct write access to the FS9 machine...Best,
