AS and "Flight Disruptions" ?

Featured Replies

Could someone answer a question for me? I have been using FSMeteo till now and only recently heard about Active Sky. What bothers me about FSM is that when it pauses to download weather updates every few minutes, my flight suffers a disruption that includes a drastic reduction or increase in airspeed, and a change in heading. Sometimes there is an annoying overspeed warning bell depending on the plane I'm flying, and it takes a few minutes for the plane to settle down to its original settings as the plane slowly goes back to its original cruising airspeed and yaws itself back and forth to its original GPS heading. It kind of resembles the plane being hit by something every few minutes. The author said this issue was corrected in version 7.0 which I just upgraded to, but I still have the problem. I can understand if there is a slight disruption, but not like this. For example, my Flight 1 Meridian cruising at 180 knots, may decrease to 160 one time then increase to 190+ (airspeed alarm goes off at 188)the next. Is this issue a problem with ASV or are the weather updates relatively unnoticeable? If they are, I will download it immediately. Thanks. Tom :-)

HiI have been flying with ASV since a week after release and with AS2004.5 in the 18 months prior to that. With ASV I do not notice any disruption - slight or otherwise - when the weather is updating - must be in mid blink if there is a stutter :) I don't think you will be disappointed with ASV if you take the plunge and as an added bonus support is second to none.Andy b
