July 10, 200520 yr Hi, I don't think my problems are necessarily due to ASV.But, I ran AS2004.5 without any problems. After installing ASVI have had one problem after another. I have uninstalled and reinstalled ASV so many times I think maybe I am in danger or wearing it out. I used the program last night and it didn't give me any trouble. Today, when I opened another program, ASV stated to try to install over the top of it. I closed both and clicked on the ASV icon. ASV didn't open. Instead it tried to install. This is a reoccuring problem as far as the fantom install is concerned. But the activation from another programs exe file is new. I also got the "run-time error 339" regarding the ChilkatZip.dll. I realize the ChilKatZip.dll file might be getting cleaned when one runs a virus scan but I haven't run a virus scan. I couldn't find it in the files Adaware cleaned. Is the ChilKatZip.dll imbedded in some other file?I am at the point of giving up on ASV and going back to AS2004.5.But before I do I though I would see if you have any ideas. I am not blaming ASV. I'm sure it's something I am doing. I just can't seem to stop doing it, what ever it is.Thanks,Bill Worth "A good landing is one you can walk away from. July 10, 200520 yr Author I think I may have found something. I repaired ASV. ASV ran fine.I then ran a spyware scan. The scan found "SPYW_VTBOUNCER.C". I deleted the file. ASV would not open, went into the install mode.I then opened Privacy Guardian and ASV tried to open in the installmode over the Privacy Guardian program. I have attached a jpg of the scan result screen. Is SPYW_VTBOUNCER.C part of the ASV program? Thanks,Bill Worth "A good landing is one you can walk away from. July 11, 200520 yr Hi Bill,What you are getting is your anti. spyware program falsely marking that file and then removing it. The same would happen in AS2004.5 so ASV is not at fault here. No, VTBOUNCER is not a part of us. The ultimate solution is to inform the software company that a valid file is being removed.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 11, 200520 yr Author Thanks Jim,I agree regarding the problem. I am curious though, do you know which file is being falsly marked? I tried to read the log on the Trend PC program but it didn't show the location of the file. You guys have a great program. I never intended to imply otherwise.Best,Bill Worth "A good landing is one you can walk away from. An excellent landing is one you can taxi away from." July 11, 200520 yr Hi,No harm taken!! This comes up about once every 2 weeks now!ChilkatZip.dll is the file that is being marked. That is a valid programming file that we have even paid to use! The situation is that many "not so good" programs are starting to use the file also. So what do the anti-XXXXware programs start to do? Look for that file and falsely flag it. Again, what others have done is to kindly write their software support division, attach the file for their inspection, and ask them to remove it from their database.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 11, 200520 yr Author Thanks Jim,I will attach a copy of the file to an email to Trend Micro and hope for the best.regards,Bill Worth "A good landing is one you can walk away from.
