Haze/Fog Popping On and Off

Featured Replies

This is not related to the threads where the fog generation is occurring on the ground when ASV loads the weather.For some time now, I get this haze/fog that pops on and off at certain times, usually on approach, but I have had it on low altitude VFR flights. I haven't been able to tell if it's somehow related to the change to surface level weather or what. I'm not sure at what altitude surface level changes over. It's been doing for a while and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I'd say it happens about 75% of the time (total, not per each flight).Here's my settings://ASV configuration file Build 325[General]WindowPosX = 4740WindowPosY = 3120DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASVSuppressionCeiling = 5000SurfaceWindLimit = 5FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9CloudLayerLimit = 3LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59AutoVasFrequency = 5AEStartupMode = 0IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseDisableRandomLightSelect = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseAutoSaveAETheme = TrueOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = TrueGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = FalseFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = TrueLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 20VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -7AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE

Hi I also experience this on occasion whilst in flight, but it doesn't happen that often.I have thought about whether I should bring it up here, but didn't think at the time it was THAT serious. If it does happen, it can be quite anoying really..... I had it ONCE yesterday....I actually mentioned this anomaly in another post but at that time i called it a "colour" shift........ clouds and horizon being white(ish)and suddenly turning grey/blue as if visibility suddenly get's better....I don't think it has anything to do with the 9.99 and 69.99sm visibility bug, because this Fog/Haze pop's did not happen in AS2004.5, and the visibility bug was with us at that time as well.Don't know if JIM or DAMIEN are aware of it or whether they are also experiencing this.....So I guess we need to ask them what they think ?

I'll add my name to the list too. As mentioned already - happens on approach mostly to me. Can be flying "straight and level" approaching the field and I may go from, say 20 mile visibility w/ haze, to what looks like max visibility w/ no haze, and back again in the span of a minutes (or less).Joe Lorenc//ASV configuration file Build 325[General]WindowPosX = -60WindowPosY = 3135DefaultWeatherFolder = D:ASVModulesASVSuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = MongoDProgram FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 60LastPlanFolder = C:Program Filesrcv30flightsAutoVasFrequency = 40AEStartupMode = 3IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseDisableRandomLightSelect = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = FalseAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseAutoSaveAETheme = TrueOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = FalseAutoGenVAS = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 45VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -6AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = FalseDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE

Hi All,Some of this may be the visibility shift at 9.999 to 10+. Also we are testing a new update that may also help with certain cloud layer situations. I am NOT tring to brush this aside, but let's wait until you can try the next Update and then see. Then if you need to revisit this we can!FYI, quickly looking at both sets of settings I would say that both are fine. We appreciate the postings of those!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
