September 20, 200520 yr Hi everyone,I am an activesky user and love it but need your advice on how to solve an issue. I always have a different information regarding wind direction/speed when comparing the info in the active radar and the one displayed in the EHSI (electronic horizontal situation indicator) of some airplanes such as Level D and ATR 72-500. It can be very different sometimes (eg.: 030/70 in the active radar and 180/30 in the EHSI). :-eek What could the reason be for this? How can I solve this?, it gets really annoying since don't know which info to take into account for flight planning. Thanks in advance,Luis
September 20, 200520 yr Hi,I can't say because I don't own those planes, but use the Shift/Z to display the data FS04 is processing. If the FS04 data and Active Radar data are close (magnetic Vs. True) then the problem may lie with the planes. If you use a default plane does the data match better?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 20, 200520 yr Jim,Thanks for your reply, I will check this out. But, what if they are not close?, is it FSUIPC?Luis
September 20, 200520 yr Hi,It could be that an uninstall/reinstall cycle clears things up.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 21, 200520 yr Jim,Just checked this and some results:FS9 info: WIND 179/10 MagAircraft's EHIS: 179/10Activeradar: 119/01There was always a difference during the flight time. What is the reason?, how can I solve this?Thx,Luis
September 21, 200520 yr Hi,And the wind reported in Active Sky was?Right now I will suggest a uninstall/reinstall cycle. Also reset FSUIPC to default settings and weather settings Off.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 26, 200520 yr Hi jim,Just did an uninstall/reinstall cycle this weekend, I also made sure to clear the weather via FSUIPC, as well as have weather settings off. Did it 5 times, same results. Results: Same as before............there is still a difference between what you see in the active radar display and what FS/Aircraft shows.....This is driving me crazy.......Why isn't it the same????I really appreciate your help on this..Luis
September 26, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Luis,Are you using force destination route winds? Or any other winds-related option? You should enable defaults to eliminate the possibility of an option interfering. Your first example with the wind at 1 knots appears that you have enabled FSUIPC taxi wind control, which forces wind at 1 kt.Remember there will be a magnetic/true difference between what the METAR report shows and FS shows. Also remember AR wind needle is showing you the relative bearing of the wind, NOT the magnetic bearing (your aircraft heading affects the direction shown, it will always show where the wind is coming in relation to your aircraft heading). If you can supply a screenshot showing the difference (with AR output, ASV main screen METAR string, and FS Shift-Z wind display) then I can hopefully determine what is wrong. Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 27, 200520 yr Hi Damian,I did a flight last night and these are the SS:PLease let me know your comments, I look forward to a solution,Best regards,Luis
September 29, 200520 yr Damian, HiFi Folks,Any idea about this?,:-zhelp I look forward to an explanation.Luis
September 29, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Luis,Unfortunately I cannot see the wind info in the screenshots. They are too compressed/small..Please try disabling "Direct wind control" in AS options... This can affect the wind display consistency between FS and AR. Does this help?
