Anyone else seeing bad performance, crashes, stutters, etc?

Featured Replies

I love ASV, the first add-on weather program I have used and it is great. I have it downloading every 10 minutes to keep the weather up to date. But since I don't fly with a flight plan, it seems sometimes the software gets confused as to where I am. I am seeing major graphics performance decreases on my system with now lots of corrupted graphics flashing all over the place. I replaced my default texture folders to make sure I didn't have any corrupted textures. I have a new computer case that runs cool and quiet. I have a new CPU fan and video card fan. With ASV Enhanced this appears to be even worse. Am I doing something wrong here?

Hi Alex,""I am seeing major graphics performance decreases on my system with now lots of corrupted graphics flashing all over the place Bad performance, Crashes, Stutters""This is sound like a video cards drivers or something related to memory. when the metar is more dense then others previous metar, performance can degrade but not to a point to crash, and flashing issue. -You can block the clouds layers to 3 in asv-Use 32 bits 256x256 resolution clouds and disable render to texture-On some system render to texture enabled can degrade performance, do some test with 32 bits 256x256 clouds with disabled render to texture-If you want to use DXT Clouds, you should enable render to textureExternal software and windows things running in the background should not be all running when you are using fs2004.Memory, Video cards Driver and BIOS setting can be related, as well the driver from the sound cards. In the bios, be sure the agp aperture is set to at least min of 64mb, 128MB or higher cab set depend on the system capability.Computers are know to be changed daily, from new software installed, new drivers, new windows setting, memory, video cards, drivers registry, defragmentation not made, scan against bad internet files, virus, adware etc, multiple addons installed in fs2004 (Aircraft can degrade performance with 32 bits texture or complexe aircraft.) etc Overall System health is very important, defragmentation is recommended to do at least each weeks, virus and adware scan. Be sure your hardisk have enought emtpy space,at least 3 gig emtpy.Improving Overall Performance:We recommend setting the cloud draw distance and sight distance to the lowest setting in FS2004 display options, and increase them slightly a little at a time during testing to find the best balance for performance and quality on your system.Video Card Setting Suggestions:Depend on your system and set, you can start with the basic settings and increase them slowly to check your performance:-AA and AF at 2-Image quality setting to performance-Turn off Vsync FS2004 Display Setting Suggestions:-Antialasing disabled-Lock your Target Frame Rate Slider between 20 and 30.-Set Mips slider to default (4) -Try either Bilinear or Trilinear filtering for best performanceMicrosoft Knowledge Base posts for FS9:http://support.microsoft.com/search/defaul...=false&numDays= Sound Related Issues for FS2004:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...394&Product=gms Improving game performance for FS2004: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...069&Product=gms Let me know if the problem remain.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

I get the flashing polygons from time to time since I enabled adaptive anti-aliasing on my ATI card. Did you do this perhaps?Paul

yes I have adaptive AA for my ATI card. I guess that is the problem. I also found out I was doing the scenery layer backwards by not putting UT USA at the top, so I think that has to do with some of the flashing.Anyway I was just wondering if there was some Active Sky issue with people like myself who never load flight plans into the program. Once in a while when I close the game I notice ASV is frozen on "writing data for station:" so I wasn't sure if it was because I closed the game at the wrong time or something else. Thanks for your help guys. Great program, my game never looked better!
