November 21, 200520 yr Hi allFirst off, I love the program. It makes life so much easier and simming so much more fun.I fly with FsPassengers, and I've noticed a problem on longer flights. At about :58 after the hour, when the typical hourly update gets loaded... as it is loading the weather, it temporarily screws up my winds aloft. Just yesterday, I went from a 95kt tailwind to 0 tailwind and then back to about 85 kt in a matter of 2 or 3 minutes. I think every alarm on the plane went off at the huge overspeed and subsequent underspeed that was created. Is there a simple setting I can adjust to fix this or is it just a bug in the software? If I can't get it to work, I would guess the only other option would be to disable real time updates while on long flights? Thanks in advance!David
November 21, 200520 yr Hi David,First I have heard of this. Try this: change your update interval time and see what happens. Is this while the station writes process is taking place in ASV?Thanks for the comments!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
November 22, 200520 yr Hi JimThanks for the speedy reply. To answer your question - yes, it occurs during the station write process. To what update interval should I change it?ThxDavid
November 23, 200520 yr Doesn't the new FSUIPC wind smoothing take care of this? Check release notes between 3.50 and beta 3.57.
November 23, 200520 yr Hi David,Keep your update interval the same.Does this happen on every station write process or just the one surrounding the METAR hourly change?I ask all this because I cannot duplicate this at all.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
November 23, 200520 yr Hi JimIt only appears to happen at the hourly METAR update. If I have it on autopilot on like a transatlantic flight, I can usually count on hearing the horn at about :55 or :00.With regards to wind smoothing - I don't know what version of FSUIPC I have. I presume it's the same one that came with Active Sky. The times I have personally witnessed thsi happening... the wind does not change instantly. It usually goes down in 5kt increments from, for example, 95kt down to 0'ish. That usually takes about 30 seconds to a minute. Obviously, the plane's autothrottle can't adjust that quickly. I woudl presume that this is wind smoothing? Perhaps I'm incorrect. If so, could you point me to alink to get a more current version of FSUIPC?Thanks so much for your help with this!David
November 23, 200520 yr Hi David,For the latest FSUIPC:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlAfter that, in FSUIPC, turn weather settings Off and click on the default settings button. The clue here may be the transatlantic flights. Does this happen, say, over the USA? This may be related to the wind problem other are seeing. We are working on a fix for this.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
