November 21, 200520 yr I have been using ASV with FS9 over a WideFS connecton without problems. Just installed ASVE upgrade on my client computer by running the setup file downloaded from the Active Sky V website. Setup seemed to run ok but when I go to run the enhanced program, I get an error message "Initialization Error reading files...Please verify your files or reinstall."I ran set up again and chose the "repair" mode but even after the reinstall I still get the same error message when I try to run ASVE.Help! Thanks,Rob
November 21, 200520 yr Same here.Uninstalled everything but AS 2004.5 and reinstalled ASV & ASVE - same result.Help appreciated.Jens
November 21, 200520 yr Just had exactly the same problem and the same message. Solved the issue in asv.ini file as my FS9Path was wrong (I had changed my FS computer name and this did not seem to have an influence on ASV - Build 314). When corrected the program launched and seems to work like a charm.Alex
November 21, 200520 yr Path was correct here, error message came anyway.I'm trying a full reinstall from AS2004 on now.

November 22, 200520 yr Just a heads up: complete reinstall of AS4, AS4.5, ASV, then ASVE - worked.HTH
November 22, 200520 yr OK thanks for that. Now it is just Rob.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
November 22, 200520 yr Thanks, for me too that was the problem. I was able to get mine to work also by mapping a drive on my client computer running ASVE which I named "z:" This maps to the FS9 directory on my FS9 server. I then edited the path in the asv.ini file on the client machine to "FS9path = z:"For those of you using a WideFS client and that tried editing the file path in asv.ini but it didn't work, it is best to use a mapped drive for the reference to FS9 and be sure you have file sharing properly set. I have my FS9 folder on my server and all the folders in it set to allow sharing.Rob

November 22, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,Just an FYI, that error will be caused when using UNC and the UNC share is not available (i.e. FS computer is off, share name does not exist, etc). This has been fixed for the update we are now working on so that it simply warns you of the situation (and prompts you to locate the correct FS9 location) instead of failing to load at all.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
