December 13, 200520 yr Just a quick question/advice. Is there any way someone could create a project that would use small flat clouds or effects sprites that would render on the ground? IE seeing snow drifting across runways/taxiways or wind/dirt swirls etc. I think this is the next level of realism for the flightsim community.I've tried to make this illusion in my winter runway sets on avsim, but they are static. Any info/help would be great.Randy OldfieldC-SJROAS5E user
December 14, 200520 yr Hi,The problem would be creating the winds to move the "clouds". They would need to be so random and strong that they would blow your planes around.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
December 15, 200520 yr Hi, Jim:The point is yes, your aircraft IS blown around. However with the light fluffy stuff it doesn't take much current to cause drifts. If you are getting heavy crosswinds good luck. Now if someone imaginitive especially at smaller airports would have a snowplow appear to clear the runway and dynamicly close and open it with the big "X" markings modifying BTW airport info calls such as ATIS, CTAF, Unicom then you would have complete weather realism. But this stuff is for scenery designers, outside your realm, but you sure can report the environment.Practise your soft landing technique.:)
