Request: lighter halo effect

Featured Replies

I am wondering if it would be possible to have a little less bright halo files. When turning on landing and taxi lights they totally white out the ground infront of me! It would be better if they were less bright to give a real lighting up effect rather than a blinding effect. Thanks for the great work! One of the best programs for flight sim ever created!

While you're waiting for Chris to do his usual excellent job, you might want to head over to the file library and search for fs2k4_ll.zip. It helps reduce the total whiteout on some of the aircraft landing lights.Have fun!...jim

Good to hear this will be fixed, yes I am talking about the lighting on the ground from the landing and taxi lights, which is so white it makes it impossible to see.Jim, I do have good replacement halo textures, lights_environment.zip here in the library... the only problem is, when I have weather influenced themes set to go automatically, it replaces the halo each time.

HI Alex,Humm, the light you are talking is not available in ASV6, there is only runways light.. ASV do not control the light you are talking. I will add them in the update.. The halo are not the aircraft light..You can use others for now, In ASV, you can select which texture to be used or not used in Random or IGS (weather influenced )Disable texture to be randomized or used in IGA for individual items via the properties

Kind Regards
Chris Willis

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the landing/taxi lights use the "spotlight.bmp" texture in the fs9/texture folder. I'm not sure if they use the halo.bmp. Try the spotlight.bmp file from the zip I mentioned above, or if it is included in the other file you mentioned, make sure it is still in the texture folder. This file is not included in the ASG texture sets....jim
