Performance Problems

Featured Replies

I have ASV 6 and after a fresh instll of FS2004 (Yuck) I have tweaked it to what I feel like is best for my system. I can be sitting at KSEA with PMDG 737 running and see FPS in the 30s with all weather off and ASV6 not installed. I can fly around with FPS never going below mid 20s. As soon as I install ASV5 then upgrade to ASV6 and run even with 64x64 clouds installed the sim is unflyable. I see FPS in the 5s and 6s as soon as I clear all weather it smokes back into the mid 20s and upper 30s. Geezz what is the deal with this thing. I used ASV5 and 6 before a fresh install and was able to fly at least in the 20s anybody have the same prob.?

HI,-The performance will depend on the metar, if the metar is dense, the performance will be lower.-In ASV option, you can limit the clouds layers to 3.-Closing ASG interface before start Fs2004 can help.-On some system using 32 bit 64x64 the performance are slower then 256x256 32 bits.. I recommend to test 256x256 32 bits first, then 512x512256x256 DXT. You have to test with your system. Some can have better performance with DXT clouds, but you need to enable render to texture in fs2004 display option, the problem with this is, the real function for render to texutre option in fs2004 is explaned below. -The RenderToTexture option in the display settings is used to control how the cloud impostors are generated. If the setting is on, then FlightSim will use the GPU to generate the impostors (if possible). If it

Thanks for the quick response. I have tried all of that and have had no luck. Could I have made a mistake when upgrading to ASV6. I just upgraded right over the top of AVS5. Also I checked my textures folder in fs9 to see what was being loaded and I noticed that there were still some cirrus cloud files still there that were 512x512. How would I know if ASV6 is loading the the proper textures in 64x64. Maybe I should just use my own clod textures and let ASV6 handle the weather is that even possible?.

Hi, Something is wrong. Cirrus files in asv are 256x256, this is means you are using others clouds, even in asv5 cirrus was always 256x256. Cirrus in 51x512 will take bad performance.Old clouds can be deleted from the previous asv5, Delete your 512x512 clouds and 128x128 if installed, go to control panel and Add and Remove. AS 512x512 clouds, 128x128.To know which resolution you are using, go in Active Sky Graphics, click on option, then select your resolution, then click Save Change.Get back to option and see what's is selected to be sure.Submit Cirrus clouds from Active Sky Gprahics to overwrite the existent one in fs2004. Be sure you submit clouds in ASG, since you have a new installation of Fs2004.Install the Latest FSUIPC 3.53 , delete these first available at fs2004module FSUIPC.dll,FSUIPC.ini,FSUIPC.key,FSUIPC.log and install the new one available at http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html-Check in your Fs2004 Display seting, since it's a new installation of Fs2004. -Try to test Fs2004 in Windows mode and Full Screen mode.-Defrag the computer is needed each weeks ThanksChris Willishttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Yup its not a good thing. I even tried just deleting the whole texture file in fs9, putting the original back in then running ASV6 and no change. Dont know what I have done but its bad LOL. It just seems like whatever has happened the sim is trying to load some serious clouds. My specs are below. I hate start all over but at this point I dont know what to do. I have even tried download and installing smaller biulding and runway textures. Runs like a champ with no clouds on. It even seems to take a pretty seroius hit with the default FS9 clouds. I have never had this prob. before.2.8 ghz AMD1.0 mb ramNvidia 5500 OC 256 mb. vid. card80gb hard drive 7200 rpm.

My settings in FS9 are all the way to the right on both

Hi, It's not recommended to use all to right, reduce cloud draw distant to leftAs well the slider in Fs, Performance will be slower if all slider are at right and all feature enabled.ThanksChris Willishttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

OOPPS my bad my cloud draw is 30 mi. I think and the other is very low as well. My 3d slider and coverage slider are both all the way to the right. Come to think of it I used to have my 3d cloud slider farther to the left could that be it?
