February 7, 200620 yr Hi all!Sometimes - maybe always connected with RVRs in the METAR - I get different visibilities than the METAR reports:http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/4691/bild15fq.jpgThe Vis should be 300m (although I think it should be one of the RVRs, since we usually land on the runway... runwaybased RVR would be the best!! ;) ) but it's at 162m... So something is going wrong here...GreetsMichahttp://www.krausemicha.de/uploads/franconian.gifMichael KrauseOnline-Pilot: FRV095 - "Franconian"Online-Controlling: EDDN, Munich-FIRVATSIM/SAG EDMM-Mentor
February 8, 200620 yr Hi,Using wx Configurator I saw that the lowest whole number accepted is 400 meters. The absolute lowest is 325 meters. At 324 it drops to 162.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
March 12, 200620 yr So is this a limitation of Active Sky or of FS itself?Any chance we once might geht something like the RVR displayed?GreetsMicha
March 14, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,It's because internally the resolution of visibility in AS is .1 SM. .1SM = 162 meters. .2SM = 325 meters, etc...The difference between .1SM and .2SM is only 163 meters or 1/10th of a mile. As for FS9 depiction, I believe this was tested (a long time ago) and if memory serves me correctly, there was no noted visible difference between .1 and .2SM.RVR and improved vis resolution are on the list for more accurate data reporting, but not sure this will really make any difference in the sim...Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
