February 20, 200620 yr I just purchased ASGv6 largely for the real-time and archived weather data. I have tried to download last week's blizzard on the East Coast but have been unsuccessful. There are no instructions in the ASG User's Manual so I tried to use some common logic, but I must be missing a step. This is what I did:1. Opened ASv6 WX Engine2. Restarted FS93. In the WX Engine under New Route, entered departure and destination IDs, KTAS and Cruise Altitude which when processed produced a WX Report and NAV Log.4. Under "download" I entered Download Year, Month, Day and Hour, then pushed Download Archive from last weeks weather. The WX was "made active and saved" and "online updates were temporarily DISABLED to prevent active weather from being overwritten by a download".5. I opened up FS9 and entered departure and destination airports and selected time, date and seasson into "Flight Planner", then "FLY NOW". I do not "Select Weather" on this panel. I see no snow, no blizzard conditions from last week's weather.6. Now, this is probably Key: the status bar on the WX engine says ASv6 - FS disconnected. How do you connect to FS9??? Can't figure out how to do this...More detailed instructions on how to use the WX Engine would be a major help to us fledglings.Flyhigh
February 20, 200620 yr I think I figured this out for myself. I went back into the readme file and was instructed to put the FSUIPC.dll into the base FS9Modules folder. Everything seems to work like it should. I thought everything would be in place after loading the program. As a suggestion, it might be helpful to have a little information on FSUIPC and a reminder to put the .dll into the folder. Moreover, it would be nice to have a short manual on the WX Engine.Flyhigh
February 20, 200620 yr Hi,Welcome!Pete does not care too much for auto-installers so we honor his wishes and instruct that a copy and paste of FSUIPC.dll may be necessary. What is the WX Engine? Please make sure you are using the very latest version of FSUIPC from here:http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlHope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 21, 200620 yr Thank you for that welcome Jim,Gotta tell you this Active Sky is incredible! Love this program! It gives you a sense of depth never realized in the original FS9.The "WX Engine", so called in the start up programs menu is the panel that gives you "real time" weather. What do you call it?Flyhigh
February 21, 200620 yr Hi,Thanks so much for the feedback! It is great to shock new users in a positive way!OK, the Main ASv6 screen. The User Manual, we think, does a pretty good job walking users through all the buttons and options. Yes, a brand new user may find things overwhelming for a bit. Spend some time and things will become easier. If you have specific questions about this or that, then post those!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://www.jdtllc.com/images/rcv4bannersupporter.jpg
February 21, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,I notice that the "ASG" user manual was mentioned...Note that there are 2 manuals.. one for ASv6, one for ASG. They are separate "components" and thus the separate documentation. If you have any trouble finding this in your Start/Programs/ActiveSky 6 program group, you can always get the documentation online at http://www.hifisim.com.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
