active runway / wind

Featured Replies

After installing ActiveSky 6, I constantly get assigned the wrong runways by fs9atc -- exactly 180 degrees (or close enough). Is this an fs bug or did I make a mistake installing? I removed ActiveSKy and all is back to normal, reinstalled it, and I am taking off with tail wind again ;)))

Sorry if I came off too negative in the other thread, but I am so disappointed with the whole experience. Well, maybe you can help. I have three PCs to play with and FS9 on all of them. One with a clean installation and no scenery or other add ons for tests.I installed ActiveSky on all three, and it crashed on all three until I turned off vertical sync (I reported that in a separate thread). I thought I had solved my problems, but now all three PCs still a) get the wrong runway, no matter how often I refresh AI trafficI made a clean installation, and this happens (example): used KSEA: without AS6 with a good northerly breeze I get runways 34, as soon as I install it I get runway 16. I can replicate this problem on all three machines, just by turning AS6 on. In fact, of all the airports I tried (around 20), with AS6 I NEVER get the right runways. Problem persists, with or without AI Traffic running.:( crash usually 1-2 hour into any flight, always at high altitudes, hours into the flight, with live weather on and a fair amount of low clouds. I have so far had no crash in VFR flights or generally at low altitudes. I was convinced at first that it had something to do with the live updates, but last night it crashed even with offline Wx. So now I am stumped again. CTDs persist regardless of slider settings for cloud density, visibilty, AA, AF ... . PCs are not overclocked, are not overheating. The thing is, I have tried so much, and so systematically, I don't know what else to do, expect try other graphic cards. Unfortunately all my PCs have the same nVidia 6600 chip (256 MB onboard).

Hi,OK, great! Let's tackle one problem at a time. First the runways.1. Start AS. Make sure none of the pause or ignore options are on. If they are, turn them off, save and exit and restart AS.2. Start FS04. Hopefully you can start at KSEA.3. Go to FSUIPC and click on default settings and weather settings off.4. Let the weather load and notice the winds. Tune in ATIS. Is the data correct? Are the runways correct?5. Untune ATIS.6. Go to World/Time and Season and increast the clock by 2 minutes and click on OK.7. Tune in ATIS again. Is the data correct? Are the runways correct? You need to report back as to what the AS data is showing and what is happening in FS04. This is because we cannot duplicate this so we are relying on you to be our eyes and ears.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

I may have discovered the source of the problem. How long does it take for the weather to load properly?

About one and a half minutes after a refresh and ten seconds after an AI refresh for me.If you start a flight with the clear weather theme (which issues the clear all weather call to FSUIPC - I also have the default flight set that way - then if there are any clouds present in your METAR you can see the change. It will take some seconds to continue writing to the other areas around your location, followed by the AI refresh to update ATC and AI traffic patterns which were in place before the weather writes.

ok it seems the problem is solved. i simply need to slow things down on the ground :) if I give it enough time, weather information and runway are correct. as for the CTDs -- I continue to fly different routes and seasons - so far only crashes in the northern hemisphere's winter. Yesterday I had a crash in winter WITHOUT ActiveSky running, so I guess you guys are off the hook ;) Thanks for all the help.

Well I just had a CTD approaching Hong Kong in June ... after removing ActiveSky. I am going to reinstall the entire FS, then do 5 flights before installing a new piece of software. I'll let you know if I find the culprit.
