March 7, 200620 yr Hi.I'm an ASv6 "Newbe" and I like it alot. When I fly with online real weather updates at areas where there is cludinnes, I get BIG beautifull comulus clouds (if indeed these conditions exist at that time in that area)However - when I try to duplicate this situation manually for off-line(by using the Wx configurator) I get much smaller comulus - no matter what coverege I set on the METAR sintax (I.E 2/8 - 7/8).I must say that other than turning on-line updated off, I don't change any of the settings for ASV and ASG and they stay the same as they was for on-line updates. My question: how can I control the size of the clouds manually? Is there any other way to control the WX other than writing my own METAR sintax on the WX configurator?Thank you.Dan.
March 7, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi Dan,The thickness of the clouds will depend on many factors... temperature, air stability, random influence, nearby weather influence and more....There is no way to manually set the thickness, but you can influence it using the Max Cloud Thickness, Number of Cloud Layers, Stratus Separation, Force Lowest Ceiling and Favor Cumulus options. For the biggest cumulus clouds I would recommend 15,000 max thickness, 3 cloud layers, 5000ft Stratus Separation, Force Lowest Ceiling ON and Favor Cumulus ON. Have a glance at the manual (OPTIONS overview) for more detail about these options. At this time the only way to "Control" the ASv6 weather is to use Wx Configurator which is based on METAR strings. Further advanced control of clouds and other weather parameters is forthcoming...Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
March 7, 200620 yr Thank you Damian for your reply.OK I understand what you're saying, although I wasn't refering just to the thicness of the clouds but to the actual size (thick width depth hight etc) of course I can't give specific measurments but I can see the difference in cloud size relative to the aircraft size.Anyway, based on your answer I would like to know if there is a way to save a specific on-line WX to be used later in of-line so I will have the exact same atmospheric conditions like you mentioned above.BTW I know I can call up and load old METAR files - I'm just looking for a faster way to have a "Favourite Wx" library. Thanks again for your attention.Dan.
