ActiveSky updating twice

Featured Replies

Hello,I have a problem with ActiveSky when using the online mode: the download of the current weather takes place as expected, but once the update is completed, AS performs another new update. The problem currently occurs with AS6 + ASG, but it was the same with the previous version (ASV enhanced)Any clue? Maybe I missed somethingThank you for any answer

Hi,Please post your ASv6.ini file.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi,Thank you for your quick reply.I am not currently using my own computer; I will send my ASv6.ini file ASAP.

Hi,If you change FS locations during the initial update process this can happen (update at first location must finish before new location is detected and updated). If you like starting ASv6 first, then FS at one location and then changing locations (i.e. bypassing the FS startup interface) you should use the "Start ASv6 paused" option and hit refresh once you're at your departure airport and ready to go.... This way only one update will complete.Hope that helps?Best,

If you start ASv6 paused doesn't it prevent you from getting the proper Wx-Influenced textures for your current flight? Isn't that why some people start FS9, then ASv6, then stop FS9, and restart it again (or something like that)?

Hi,In this case, you can still start paused (with FS closed), enter your flight plan and process (with departure/destination entered - waypoints not required), then refresh to get everything updated including your wx-influenced textures. Then start FS (preferably with the startup screen ENABLED so you can set your position before the flight is active without going somewhere else and causing a redundant update).Check out the startup options descriptions in the manual, there are many of them and you can pretty much get things to work any way you want to.As for going into FS9 and restarting, I think folks do this to plan and save a flight plan first, but this is not necessary as only your departure/destination airport IDs are required for proper wx-influenced selections.Best,

Thank you for your explanations and sorry for my late answer.Here are my replies:>On the ASv6 main screen is there a message that FS is disconnected?No such a message.>If you change FS locations during the initial update process this can happenThe problem occurs even if I do not change FS locations during the initial update process.>Please post your ASv6.ini file.Here it is:<<<<<<<<</ASv6 configuration file Build 470[General]WindowPosX = -11445WindowPosY = 3900DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsRAFFAULTApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Wx-InfluencedDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Wx-InfluencedAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = TrueUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 1AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE>>>>>>>>>>Here is my start-up sequence:I start FS9 first and then ASV6.Nepal

Hi,If possible always start ASv6 then FS04Change this line and make it FalseIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueHope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Thank you for your quick reponseI will try this and let you knowNepal

Hello,I now have applied your solution and AS works fine - no more double update.Though I am a bit worried with the result:As recommended I start AS before FS9. AS performs a first "update" at KSEA and then waits for FS to start.I then start Flight Environment (for water textures only - I use ActiveSky Graphics with the "Wx influenced" option) and then FS though FE.AS then handles a "second" update (at KSEA) while FS is loading, and then a third update at the current airport of FS9!As you advised I will continue to start AS before FS - unless you can tell there is no drawback to start FS first. Please do not think I'm trying to criticize ActiveSky - I use it everyday and it's a great product!

Hi,Those steps and the actions of Active Sky are correct. Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

All right, thank youI will now try to 'merge' AS and Flight Environment together in a better way.
