April 18, 200620 yr Hello:While coming into KDEN today AS6 b was reporting winds 250/50knts. A fellow UAL pilot was the and his winds showed 297/24knts. ServInfo showed 297 with gusts to 18. I'm using build 482.Any reason for the big difference? BTW, ShiftZ showed 250/50 too.
April 18, 200620 yr Hi Terry,Not really sure here. The 18Z report shows 250 at 7 gusting to 15. I just checked a source of winds data and their data matched ours.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
April 18, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,25050KT reported on the surface or aloft? What did the METAR report? Remember that until you are within the surface zone (about 3000AGL) the METAR winds won't be in effect yet. As well, there could have been other stations reporting different wind conditions that you would have experienced on approach until KDEN was the closest station. The textual or voice reports by AS however should have indeed indicated the correct METAR information for KDEN assuming you had a flight plan loaded.Shift-Z will always report the ambient wind, the wind at the present aircraft location, and not necessarily the surface winds.I also checked the data with the latest report and things look good. If you have an example showing any inconsistency please let us know and we'll take a look.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

After I touched down and was taxing I was still reading 250/50. As I said, I spoke with a fellow UAL pilot, using AS 6, non-beta, and his winds were correct. Regarding the flight plan, I always load one into AS 6 before I connect MSFS to it.Let me know if there are any other questions guys. Thanks,
