May 12, 200620 yr Flying towards a airport the vis suddenly changes from unlimited to less than 5 miles or less, haze.Turning downwind, the vis instantly changes to unlimited again. Also, has KLAX been in the fog now for over a week? I bought the Cloud-9 lax addon and its been less than 5 mile vis for over a week.Anyways, what are the settings you reccomend I double check. Just seems like the entire USA is constantly under a veil of haze all the time. Change directions and its time to put on the sun tan lotion.
May 12, 200620 yr Hi,Your altitude because of the visibility jump level in FS04.Surrounding airports because there could be a blend of reports. If military bases are around they only report 7SM max so things can jump. Are you using FS9 Haze and Fog Generation?Edit: I just pulled the KLAX weather and they are reporting 7SM vis. so haze is going to be there.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

May 13, 200620 yr Sitting on the runway waiting for the weather to load sometimes takes FOREVER.I checked asv it was loading stations over 300 miles away.Ex-At klax I saw KLAS and KSFO.Normal?Appreciate the help. Jim
May 13, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,The approach path for KLAX pretty much goes right over the "wx zone" of KSMO (Santa Monica). It is not uncommon for them to have variable visibilities. Right now, for example, we are experiencing heavy marine layer pretty much all day, but a few miles inland it clears up. Thus having KSMO reporting 10 or greater and KLAX reporting less than 10 will be common. When the vis goes greater than 10, POP, a well documented FS9 feature. Check the dozens of threads on this and other forums. The solution would be to make max vis 9 or 10SM (I prefer 9) to prevent going above 10. This doesn't work well when you are in a jet climbing to higher altitudes but works very good for low-altitude GA flight or pattern work.Hope that helps! FYI I am about 50 miles from KLAX and the haze/fog has definitely been bad all week.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
