May 31, 200620 yr I often get these ugly square patterns in low cloud cover, regardless of graphics settings. Has anyone else observed these? http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/150227.jpg
May 31, 200620 yr Hi,In the far past it has come up a few times. If I remember correctly submitting new cloud textures fixes this.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
May 31, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi, It's related to the Fs2004 3d clouds model, these are from fs2004, not related to ASV6, texture are not 3d clouds model.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 3, 200620 yr Thank you. I reinstalled the content of the Texture folder from the original and the problem is gone. But i don't get it - which graphics does ASG then use? What files are modified when I submit ASG graphics?
June 3, 200620 yr I retract my previous statement- problem persists after reinstalling the original textures fro the FS CDs. And the grid patterns do not occur without Activesky (eg. when I use the default FS weather or Weathermaker). Has anybody else observed this problem?
June 3, 200620 yr Hi, I had the exact same thing and it started some releases ago. I did send my pics to support but they could not find the solution for it (though they tried to help in every possible way). For me i finally got rid of it by using the option "favor cumulus over stratus" or something like that ;) Also playing with the fog generation might give some good results.CheersMartin
June 4, 200620 yr Thank you I will try that. I am curious: what graphic card are you using? I have a suspicion that it is card related :)
June 5, 200620 yr well I use a Radeon ... so that's not the reason then. I played around a lot and I only get it with ActiveSky, it's definitely not texture related.
June 5, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi, The problem are not related to texture or anything like that's, these are stratus clouds rendered from Microsoft, no matter which texture you are using or program, if these stratus formation are trigered, you will see this, in ASV6 there is option use favor cumulus overs stratus, this will set cumulus overs stratus clouds and prevent this rendering.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 5, 200620 yr Commercial Member HI, These are stratus clouds formation are rendered from Microsoft engine, 3d clouds builded from MS, not texture, these will show in default fs weather as well. In Active sky there is favor cumulus over stratus or you can change the stratus separation altitude can help to prevent these stratus clouds formation.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 5, 200620 yr I don't think that's entirely correct. I can recreate the problem without Active Sky Graphics, yes, but: I cannot recreate the problem without ActiveSky. So far the only solution I have come up with is not depicting the stratus layer by favoring cumulus - but that's no solution now is it. If there is a stratus layer of clouds, why does it appear correct and uniform without ActiveSky but with a weird grid when I use AS6 ?? Still a mystery.
June 5, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi All,Let me explain you, stratus overcast model in Fs2004 lower than a certains height will make these grid line, because of a quick job made in their clouds formation from Microsoft, see here below default weather engine and default clouds. You can cleary see problem in overcast stratus clouds in Microsoft like the cumulus overcast clouds in Microsoft. Now if there is overcast stratus clouds are in the metar, ASV6 will use these, we are aware of this problem original from Microsoft and we will continue to see what's we can do like we improve little bit the overcast clouds for cumulus. I will send a reports to Damian and see try to avoid these clouds formation when these are trigered.Leave the max stratus thickness and separation like default from the ASV6 option. You can prevent this for a temp fix in fs2004 settingdisplayweather under clouds details, set the slider clouds coverage density to high (not maximum) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/150597.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/150598.jpgThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
