July 6, 200619 yr I was looking to see if anyone may be able to help me sort this out. I seem to be having a problem with AISmooth while running ASV6 - maybe! I say maybe, because I am trying to rule out ASV6 as the problem. Back a few months ago I had ASV6, FS9, and AISmooth all running harmoniously together. One day recently I noticed I was getting the old FS9 stacked traffic on final approach resulting in go-arounds. After looking further, I realized that AISmooth was disapearing somewhere in the mix after ASV6 and FS9 was started. Here is the routine I go through when starting to fly - this routine is the same routine used when AISmmoth ran properly too:1) Open ASV62) Download weather (but I fly in offline mode)3) Create my route3) Shutdwon my Antivirus and Ewido programs4) Defrag memory5) Start AISmooth6) Execute FSautostart/and it's memory defrag/and FS9 execute with an average of 845mb available memory.7) Select a flight and be on my way....which is LD767 99% of the time. After I noticed that AISmooth was shuting down at somepoint, I updated to the latest 1.12 version (?) and updated FSUIPC to 3.65.My test flight on Sunday was to fly the Aerosoft Beaver around Red Lake, Ontario for a couple of hops to remote lakes. I downloaded weather, but did not create a route - just started with the rest of my procedures listed above. I kept checking task manager and AISmooth was there the whole time while flying. Thought my version updates of AIsmooth and FSUIPC did the trick! :) However, yesterday while getting back to my big iron routine, I went through all 7 of my steps above, and after the weather and AI refreshed in ASV6 I checked task manager, and AISmooth was no longer running. And I know it was there at least through the "Select a Flight" menu after FS9 started, because I checked. I am stumped. I have not updated LD767 recently, as there have been no updates, but always keep ASV6 current. Are there any users having issues similar to mine??? Or can anyone offer any suggestions?? Thanks to all who take the time to read, laugh, and think about it.Neil :)
July 6, 200619 yr Hi Neil,I have been watching you at the "other" place with this same question and I thought you got the correct information when somone said that AISmooth must have constant contact with FS04 to remain open!Make AISmooth the very last thing you start and I bet it will never close down.I use AISmooth when I know I will be visiting heavy traffic airports and I can trigger the shutdown everytime by going to my aircraft page. That page takes so long to load that the communication between FS04 and AIS cuts off and AIS shuts down. There may be other places as well where this happens. And for me, I have worked out my settings that I could start AIS near my destination and not have any problems!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/
July 6, 200619 yr Jim hi, I have Windows Explorer shut down when using FSAutostart, so I can't get to anything other than ASV6, FS9, or FSAutostart... I can try not closing explorer, but I know that AIS is running up until the point where the AI refreshes, or somewhere around that time frame. I see it running by doing ctl/alt when FS9 starts and takes me to the Select a Flight screen. Maybe it is within LD767, as I have added some gauges in that plane?I am going to try a few other aircraft and see if the same thing happens - that seems like another good test to start with. Thanks for the reply Jim,Neil :)
July 6, 200619 yr Hi Neil,Nope it is not the plane or gauges, its nothing more than anything that takes the focus away from the communication of FS04 and AIS. If your AI refresh takes too long this could cause it.You are really being too aggressive with AutoStart if you are closing down even explorer! How do you multi-task without being able to see your desktop icons??!!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/
July 7, 200619 yr Jim, I don't need to multitask...and this setup I use now is the same set up I used when AISmooth did work, so that is the confusing part. I am almost sure it is LD767 (my personal modified version) causing the issue now, so I don't want to tie up this forum anymore with my issue. I read a bunch of posts in Pete Dowson's forum about certain types of gauges - add-on gauges, that could cause some issues. I am going to send him my fsuipc.ini log to look at next week some time when I return from vacation. As always, I do appreciate your comments and feedback Jim!Take care,Neil :)
July 8, 200619 yr Jim,>>by going to my aircraft page. That page takes so long to load < Roger See my specs in my profile
July 8, 200619 yr Hi Roger,Thanks! All my AI are hidden. I use AITM to make sure. I think I am over 150 add-on planes so each time that screen loads AISmooth loses communication and shuts down. Not a big deal for me because I can start AISmooth last and never have a problem.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/
