Error message and other problems

When I start AS6 I always get asked to find my FS9 folder even though I've done that a dozen times and always go into options and save it. That is just a minor inconvenience though.I frequently get a message that it can't access internal components and to repair. I've read some messages here that suggest antivirus and other programs can delete critical files. Well, this particular computer doesn't have anything else running on it. I've repaired it several times but no joy. I am using the ASV upgrade on a second computer with WideFS.AS6 still opens and seems to work as far as I can tell but the local and zulu date aren't even close to the METAR date.Local Date/Time: 7/22/06 08:17Zulu Date/Time: 7/22/06 14:17ZActive Wx: 160850ZWhy is it loading old weather? ThanksDavid

Hi David,Make sure the FS9 folder is shared and the Application Data folder is shared.Make sure you are using B503.Is Online Updates checked On?WideFS and FSUIPC up to date? The WideFS machine does not have FS04 on it does it?Can the WideFS machine access our web site OK?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/

Hi Jim,Sorry it took awhile to reply but I appreciate your help. My responses appear below. I've still not found the source of the problem but the PC running WideFS client is a Win98 machine if that makes any difference.>Make sure the FS9 folder is shared and the Application Data>folder is shared. This is done and I am able to move files around freely. Project Magenta also uses access to these folders.>>Make sure you are using B503.The latest build? Done>>Is Online Updates checked On?Yes. I also have AS4.5 on this machine and it works fine getting the latest METARS.>>WideFS and FSUIPC up to date?Yes>>The WideFS machine does not have FS04 on it does it?No but I had to check this one as it did have it at one point.>>Can the WideFS machine access our web site OK?Yes, as AS4.5 works fine (always has). The main page says "online mode" and it seems to download just fine, accept the METAR is old. Thanks for the help!David>

Hi,Are you using any 3rd party time programs such as FS Real Time?Is the time and date correct in FS04?Is there an entry for AS2004.5 in your firewall/anti-virus?I believe this line is wrong:PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsUserNameApplication DataHope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/

Hi Jim,Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I've been out of town. My replies appear below. I still have not had any luck.>Are you using any 3rd party time programs such as FS Real>Time?Nope>Is the time and date correct in FS04? Yes, and on all client computers>Is there an entry for AS2004.5 in your firewall/anti-virus?I hate to admit it but there is no protection on this particular PC at the moment>>I believe this line is wrong:>PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and>SettingsUserNameApplication DataI fixed that but I still get the same error message. For some reason AS4.5 and ASV work fine getting the correct METAR but AS6 gets tripped up.David

Hi David,The PersonalAppDataFolder was indeed set incorrectly which is why the prompt to find folders each time. What did you end up setting this to? Do you have a proper share to the appopriate Application Data folder?May I recommend that you please contact me via e-mail with your updated asv6.ini as well as a description of your shares (names and physical locations) and I should be able to more quickly get you up and running. Thanks!Best,
