AS6 and GE Pro via WideFS - Why?

Featured Replies

Hi all,I am using both AS6 and GE Pro, both installed on my main FS-PC. I am very happy with both programs - my flight sim experience is more ralisitic than ever.In the forums, I keep reading about putting both programs on a second PC.My question: Why should I do this? Does such a setup improve performance? If yes, how much? My first PC is an Athlon 3.700 with 2 GB Ram, the second would be an Athlon 3.500 with 1 GB.Thanks in advance for your comments.Hans

Hi Hans,Thanks for the question. With your systems the only advantage I see is the fact that ASv6 could be run on a second screen, or if you were running low on HD space. Maybe others will have more advantages, but I cannot see any for your systems.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

HansI have an Intel 3.8GHZ w 2 GB rma and an XP850XT video card in a DellXPS G3 that I run FS2004 and GE PRO on. The other is a 1.3GHZ Dell 8100 with 512 Rm that I run Sqquakbox, ASV6 and Servinfo on thru Widefs. I do that to keep frames up as high as possible as I fly online almost 100% of the time. I don't want anything running on the FS2004 and taking any CPU or video time at all. SErvinfo refreshes occasionally as well as Squakbox getting voice data all the time. It is quite simple if you have practically any additional PC to use as a second One.
