October 22, 200619 yr Hi,I installed ActiveSky 6.5 update and it installed into FS9. I am running FSX. After the install I went into the directory of ActiveSky and tried to execute the 6.0 exe. I get a message 'class not regitered' msstdfmt.dll not installed. Msstdfmt is instlled and without any problems with it. The program closes after I reply 'OK' to that message. I have FSUIPC 4 installed and I am running WindowsXP Pro on a 3gig dual core machine. Need help.Gary
October 22, 200619 yr OK Gentlemen - I unistalled ActiveSky 6.0 and re-installed the version to C:Program FilesActiveSky. I then applied your SR5 to Version 6.0 and then upgraded to Version 6.5. Perfect. Everything took. The previous install must have lost it's registered class pointers in the register. Or something like that. ;-) I check the ini and it points to the FSX install. Can I change the first words in that line to read 'FSX' instead of 'FS9' or will this screw up the exe?(FSXPath)? FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XAlso the default load without FSX started is KSEA but I imagine this will correct itself when I start FSX.Gary
October 22, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi Gary,The name of the entry remains "FS9Path" but it does work when pointing that to FS9 OR FSX. Looks like you get it all setup correctly, and yes your location shown will change as soon as it knows what it is, as provided by FSX/FSUIPC ;)Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
October 22, 200619 yr Hi Damian,I just wanted to let you know ActiveSky, for me, works much smoother in FSX than it ever did in FS9. The cloud changes are smoother and more flowing. The only problem is the occasional 'whiteout' during the weather update, but this is rare. I have downloaded all of Matts tweaks, texture reductions, and Mike's cloud texture reductions and have pretty great framerates out of the cities. Still working on KSEA. Very stubborn. :-) One trick I found was switching out the MS traffic.bgl and using UT traffic BGL and UT aircraft from FS9. What a difference in AI framerates getting rid of the MS loaded aircraft. Of course you don't get the realistic MS AI varying sounds or opening bays but at the tremendous expense of framerates who cares.Gary
