October 25, 200619 yr Please assist!I removed Active sky, reloaded FSX, and re installed Active Sky 6.5 again. The ActiveSky 6.5 install goes fine. When I start the Wx engine program for the first time, I get some path browse windows, the program loads up and appears to work. I then close Active sky and FSX, then get these errors everysingle time I open Active Sky 6.5. Despite my browsing to my applicationdata folder.(And yes, it's shared).I can't be the only one having this issue.I have Windows XP SP2FSX Deluxe retailWhat do I need to do to get this working?
October 25, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,You can manually configure your FSpath and appdatapath in the asv6.ini file.. make sure these are properly pointing to the correct locations. It sounds like this is a network location, so also make sure you have proper write permission.FWIW these messages while annoying are not significantly effecting anything in FSX weather depiction. They only show up when AS is unable to read or write to the FSX/FS9 files specified in those paths. Setting the correct locations and verifying proper access should do the trick.Does that help?Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
October 26, 200619 yr The path information is correct in the ini file, but I continue to get these 2 errors. (See attached)What does the second error mean? What am I not getting because of it. The error refers to stp 6. What is "step 6"??Here is my ini.//ASv6.5 configuration file Build 533[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = W:activesky6_5ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 4000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = O:Microsoft Flight Simulator XPersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsBrannonSApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -5AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
October 26, 200619 yr Hi,Is this a single computer installation or a networked installation? Both messages are related I believe. It may be that your Application Data folder is not being shared. You may need to double check on this if this is a networked installation. Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
October 26, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,No, those paths do not appear to be correct as it appears you are on a networked install...Since in that case FSX is on a different machine, the PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsBrannonSApplication Data cannot be correct as FSX's app data will never show up in this location and will never be found or able to be modified by AS.Thus you should probably setup a share, as described in the documentation, for the correct app data path on the FS machine.Does that help? October 27, 200619 yr Single PC. I even shared my application data foler with read write access, just to see if I could get these errors to go away. No luck.
October 27, 200619 yr No. This is a single machine. I installed Active sky on a seperate drive(Drive W). My xp install is on Drive C:.My FSX on on another drive.(O drive)But it's all on the same pc.
October 27, 200619 yr Hi,Please list your path to you Applications Data folder.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
October 27, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,To clarify on this error: It is happening due to 1) no file found/access denied at C:Documents and SettingsBrannonSApplication DataMicrosoftFSXwxstationlist.binSo the browse dialog comes up asking you to locate it...And then 2) due to unable to write a new file/access denied to C:Documents and SettingsBrannonSApplication DataMicrosoftFSXwxstationlist.bin (adjust path to whichever you selected via your browse dialog session).Anyhow, either the file/path does not exist or the application/user is denied access. To troubleshoot this, via windows explorer, browse to your appdata folder (to see it you may need to go to Tools/Folder Options/View, and select "Show hidden files and folders"). Within the appdata folder, which should be C:Documents and SettingsBrannonSApplication Data, you should find Microsoft and within that FSX. Within that full path you should have the wxstationlist.bin file. If you can't find any of this, that is the core problem. You need to point to the valid user appdata path (user must be same as installed with FSX).If you can find the file ok, check the file attributes (right click, properties) and make sure READ ONLY is not selected. If so, uncheck it.Please try this and let me know your results.... does the file exist or not? What were the attributes if so? And finally, does this fix things? Thank you for your patience, and feel free to e-mail me at damianc at hifisim.com for direct troubleshooting. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
