November 10, 200619 yr Ever since installing the 6.5 upgrade, I get no more than 10 SM visibility whereever I fly. When visibility is unlimited, AV6.5 reports Vis: 9999 Meters, 10 SM (which is probably the 10km or more METAR), and that is EXACTLY how far I can see. The effect is not bad, but a bit unrealistic in some regions, to say the least :)Max visibility is set to 50I am using FS9.
November 11, 200619 yr Hi,First report of this. Can you post or attach your ASv6.ini file? Have you tried a reset of FSUIPC default settings and weather settings off? That is a maximum visibility report and you should be getting 50.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

November 11, 200619 yr Hi,It could be, but it sure looks close to 50SM to me. From your settings I can suggest lowering your Suppression Ceiling to something less thatn 20000. You may not be getting updated information. Try 10000 and see.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

I have build 523 of ASv6.5 and it never says more than 10SM or 9999 metres. In fact, having read the OP I have just fired up FS9 with AS and positioned myself in Dubai where there is a clear, cloudless sky but visibility is stated as 10SM. However, in the air it looks much nearer the 50 miles I have set in FS. My suppression ceiling has always been set at 10000. I assumed that 10SM was the maximum that AS would report. If conditions dictate it does state a lower distance.Iain Smith
November 13, 200619 yr Hi All,The 10SM does reporesnt maximum visibility. The rest is going to be your Haze and Fog settings, your maximum visibility, and the texture sets you are using. We do have some softer horizon sets that you may be seeing. Screenshots are the only way I can tell for sure! Thanks everyone!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
November 14, 200619 yr To locate the source, I installed the default horizons and the "problem" was gone. It's a GE Pro effect ... at least it is on my system. I do quite like it, since my focus is on AI, weather & aircraft not the scenery below. I find AS6 FS9 now offers fantastic realism, even better than on FSX - I can't get acceptable framerates when AI and AS6 weather are running.
