FS9 + AS6 + FSGlobal + CCS2004 = not so perfect gliding conditions...

Recommended Posts

Firstly, no im not going to buy FSX however good it is at the moment, and secondly i see no reason why i should if FS9 suits me just fine.Ok, now thats out of the way, i'll ask my question, if i may.I'm running FS9, with AS6 and FS Global installed. I'm also running Eric Cardens awesome CCS2004 from here: http://x-c.home.att.net/Primarily, i've used FS9 for GA flights in and around the UK and also Central/Eastern Europe. Of recent, I've been booting up FS, with AS6, and find myself wanting to try out gliding, hence the reason for CCS2004.Although I've used CCS to help create some thermals, in addition to ridge lift and the like for use with the gliders i've found by Wolfgang Piper (from here: http://www.fsglider.de/frset_e.htm ), i still find that thermals are few and faw between.Scouring the frums here, and around the net, i know AS6 generates some very realistic vertical air movements. Yet, try as i might, I cannot get the AS6 settings to work in conjunction with FS9 nor CCS2004 and have yet to see any of the advantages that are touted for us glider fans.Is there something im not doing, or even doing incorrectly?? Can anybody suggest settings fos AS6 to use.Better still, do you have a similar set-up to me (i.e. FS9+AS6+CCS+FSG) and know what is required to have all applications playing together nicely?Any help given is greatly appreciated!many tahnksNEMA

Hi,Thaks for writing!First, please post your ASv6.ini file so I can take a look at your settings. Then, from our manual:Vertical Air Simulation NOTE: Vertical Air Simulation is compatible with FS2004 (FS9) only! FSX includes its own default vertical air simulation effects. Vertical Air Simulation provides updraft, downdraft and thermal effects. These effects are triggered by programmable

Many thanks for the prompt response. >....please post your ASv6.ini file so I can take a look at>your settings.Here you go, complete in its entirety...//ASv6 configuration file Build 441[General]WindowPosX = 3390WindowPosY = 3435DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsSimiApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 15LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = NONEAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = EGNXDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Wx-InfluencedDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Upper WavesAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = TrueDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = TrueUnpauseOnReadyStatus = TrueForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = TrueEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = TrueDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 0AloftPredictability = 75WindDriftRate = 15MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEAlso, I've not yet had time to play with manual VAS points, however its not up/downdraughts i've experienced problems with as Ridge Lift and Chelan Lift appear just where i'd expect them, thanks to CCS2004.... will this affect your possible diagnosis of the above?

Hi,Suggestions:Update your version of ASTurn VAS Frequency to 100Turn VAS Strength to 100After this I am not sure exactly what you will see because I know nothing about CCS2004. I'll do what I can to help with AS though.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
