Wind Effect on Aircraft in FSX

Featured Replies

Was wondering how wind changes affect aircraft indicated speed in FSX?Is it like FS9, where the IAS will jump instantly by large amounts when you enter a new area with a different wind? I understand that there is currently no way of 'smoothing' the wind transitions yet with FSX.I am hoping this is fixed somewhat, as it can get frustrating being told off by ATC for leveling off because the speed starts falling away due to wind changes. Thanks for any info.

Hi Phil,Right now FSX is not allowing for smoothing, so the wind shifts can and do happen. We are all awaiting a SimConnect update from MS.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Understand that wind shifts do occur at the moment. What I am wondering is if they have the same affect on IAS as with FS9, whereby changes in wind cause massive shifts in IAS?

Hi Phil. How about from 400kts to over 500kts as I saw on a recent flight? Put that baby in Overspeed for some time!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Jim,Do you have some info that I don't? From what I've read, we will not see an FSX update until after January. Actaully Phil Taylor stated that they would be taking until the end of January just to develope the plan for the update. That's not releasing an update, just planning what needs fixing. That tells me we will be dealing with this wind issue for a long time.Regards,Richard

Hi,This is different then Phil Taylor's posts. Really, that is all I can say right now.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
