Reinstall of FSX

Featured Replies

Could you tell me how to "fully" uninstall FSX, so that I can get a fresh reinstall? Are there any hidden folders, or other things that I need to look for?Thank you,JimPS: I asked here because I remember Jim(JSkorna), giving instructions on how to fully remove FS9.

Hi,Thanks for writing. Because FSX pretty much installs the same as FS9, the uninstall procedures are the same also. There are folders in your Documents and Settings folder that will need to be manually deleated as well. Please let us know if you need more help with this! Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hey Jim,Thanks for getting back to me. I used disk 1 to uninstall FSX, then I used the following procedure to remove the folder that it was in. --(right click)Start / (left click)Explore / Program Files / Microsoft Games / Microsoft Flight Simulator X (Delete). After doing the above, I did not find any folders in the other locations. However, when I followed the same procedure when removing FS9, there were folders in the other locations, that still needed, to be removed.I did notice that the FSX folder that I removed seemed to be fairly small. So, ether the uninstaller does a good job of uninstalling, or I am just not finding everything. If you would recommend a procedure, I'll reinstall, to see if it seems to do a fuller uninstall, then I one that I used.Thank you,Jim

Hi,If you installed the SDK it is under Program Files. In My Documents there may be a folder also, with your saved flights and configurations in it.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi, JimYou need to go to Control PanelD & MTypes of files - usually at upper left then click exibition mode then at advanced config go to hidden folders and files and check option to show them (by default it doesn't show). With this all hidden folders will be seen.Go to C:Documents and SettingsYour name. You will find folders that were hidden, among then AppDataMicrosoftFSX. If there is anything at all after uninstallation of FSX (Add/Remove Programs) you delete this folder.Hope it helpsEduardo
