January 17, 200719 yr Hi all,I've recently been doing some flying from AFB's and NAS's in the Florida/Georgia area. I get some weird looking graphics (due to weather) at such places - see attachment. The scenery will load fine, but then it gradually changes to what you see in the pics. After I take off, climb out and get some distance away, everything will change back to normal. However, once approaching my destination, things will change back just like in the pics. The TAF for the airport in question was: KWWRB 150155Z Auto 0000KT10SM OVC060 17/14 A3025I'm using ActiveSky v6.5, Build 533 in FS9. I have the payware version 3.71 of FSUIPC.These strange occurances do not happen at the civilian airports in the area. Thanks,ScottKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
January 17, 200719 yr Hi Scott,I am going to figure that you are at KWRB in Georgia. I tried and things were good. So a few things:For many military stations the maximum visibility can only be reported as 7SM. This sometimes causes visibility to change. The attached picture looks like a video problem. Please make sure your video drivers are up to date.If you use FS Weather does this happen? Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
January 17, 200719 yr Author Hi Jim,Thanks for the reply. I have an XFX GeForce 6600 card and am using the latest nVidia drivers...just downloaded them last week. I did fly the same flight using the stock FS weather, and everyhing was fine. The conditions you see in the pic I posted happened on about 3 flights...all from and to military bases in the Georgia and Florida area over a couple of day time span.Regards,ScottKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
January 17, 200719 yr I hate the military bases for this very reason. Is there any easy way to identify them all and exclude them from the AS6.5 weather station list?Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
January 17, 200719 yr Hi Scott,I have an idea, but just to be sure: if this happens again, take another screenshot and post it along with the METAR from AS, not the TAF. I cannot reporduce this, so I will need your help.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
January 17, 200719 yr Hi Glenn,There is no way to automatically exclude them. So the manual method is the only way. Because they use the same ICAO code system, we cannot program anything to adjust the visibility on the go.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
January 18, 200719 yr Author Hi Jim,If I decide to fly military LogAir routes again with my VA, I'll take another screenshot and post the METAR from the airport in question. I doubt I'll be flying out of military bases again, due to the oddities I've been experiencing in their area.As far as the METAR goes, in reference to the pic I posted, that info is in my original post. I do think that the fact all vis in the TAF at military bases is reported as a maximum value of 7SM has something to do with all this.Evidently it is not a widespread problem, as Glenn is the only other person who posted, besides yourself, of course ;-)Regards,ScotKJMS (or thereabouts) "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
