February 24, 200719 yr It happens rather too frequently at the moment that I start a flight, go through ATC procedures, taxi, take off and am half-way to cruise level before AS6 suddenly changes from clear skies to a mass of clouds. Obviously the loading time is way off what it should be.I start up AS6 paused, load my offline Wx file, process my flight then click refresh. Any ideas why the weather can sometimes take up to a quarter of an hour to load up? My hardware should cope easily... ini file below.Thanks,Martin------------------//ASv6 configuration file Build 523[General]WindowPosX = 9690WindowPosY = 4815DefaultWeatherFolder = G:Flight Simulator 2004ModulesASv6Weather Data FilesSuppressionCeiling = 12500SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = G:Flight Simulator 2004PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsMartinApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 4LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0.5MaximumVisibility = 59AutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency =DefaultStartupLocation = EGLLDefaultGraphicsFullTheme =DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme =AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = TrueForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = TrueGlobalWrites = TrueDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = FalseIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = TrueLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 0AloftPredictability = 90WindDriftRate = 60MaxCloudThickness = 8000MinStratusSeparation = 8000TAFProcessing = TrueEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = TrueUseSystemTime = FalseDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONELastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsMartinMy DocumentsFlight Simulator Files Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
February 24, 200719 yr Hi Martin,Yes you are right, that is too long. Try:1. Update to B533.2. Don't start AS paused.3. Watch and see if the station writes are really slow on the AS main screen.4. Try with a fresh boot of your laptop.5. See if your AV is interfering. Please let us know,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
February 24, 200719 yr Author Jim,Hi. Given that I usually use offline, saved Wx data files, you yourself advised me to start AS paused - otherwise I have to wait quite some time whilst it goes through its procedures at startup, only to wait all over again once I have loaded a different offline Wx dat file and flight plan.I did notice that ground updates were disabled (another AS recommendation from a previous post) and that weather only seems to get under way some time after take-off. I'll see if this change helps.I reboot regularly, so that's not an issue. Will install B533 now - I was abroad for some months so missed this update. Will report back. Thanks,Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
February 25, 200719 yr Author Jim, I made one or two alterations to the ini file - enabled ground updates, both ALL and LOCAL. And I installed the latest update.I may be speaking too soon, as I have only had three flights since then, but AS6 has really never looked so good (see screenshot). Load up times are good at the moment, from 10 seconds to c.60 seconds, depending on the location.I just hope that it all stays this way. Not sure whether it was the update that did this, but, as I say, the clouds now look better than I ever remember seeing before. It was quite awesome flying through them last night.Thanks,M. February 25, 200719 yr Author Indeed! As I've said before, I don't think I've ever bought a product (FS or otherwise) that is better supported than AS. Nice to know you're there when things go wrong. Hopefully my clouds at least will be OK for a good while yet though,M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
