Maximizing Cloud Coverage with AS/FE/GE Pro

Featured Replies

Have had AS6 (6.5) for over a year and it is superb--I recently loaded both Ground Environment PRO and Flight Environment to the mix--my order of load is--AS--import flight plan--build the weather--hit GE PRO button--load ground textures for given weather--close GE PRO--open FE and install cloud/sky/water preferences--close--then open FS9 (Jim S. recommended the above sequence). My question is this--whatever cloud coverage there is, is typically limited to a fairly close area around the flight path of the aircraft--my vis is set to 59 in the options--how do you increase the coverage of the overall weather without dropping your max vis down to where the horizon is so murky? If there are others with the FE, GE Pro, and ASv6.5 loaded as well ,would like to hear any techniques. Thanks!Kemo

JimI've played with those settings before and I've got FS9/AS6 set up/your posting a year ago...I think I tried going out to 60 on draw distance before to match the 59 horizon but there's a big FPS hit...I'll fiddle more...I just thought with FE/GE Pro ect there might be a way to increase overall coverage.ThanksKemo

Good question, Kemo. Even if you go beyond your system capabilities it won't give you any satisfactory soup/cloud coverage like, say, in LockOn:Flaming Cliffs or BoB2. I've been looking for the solution since I got more powerful Core2 Extreme / 7900GTX. I don't like what I get of the clouds on my system, the layers are rather thin and single. Fog is ok, but not the clouds.I also don't get how to choose the current cloud set in FE after AS/GE, what is the logic behind and what does it add, say, vs. GE clouds? Can you pls elaborate how you sort them and how you make your choice on the cloud set every time you start FS9? I've seen the example of FE screens/options in the other recent thread, I know how to set things up in FE. But what are the considerations for the choices you make in FE vs. real weather brought by AS?Any other suggestions on the thicker clouds and layers, please? Thanks.
